Reminder from the Nurse
The Tdap vaccine is required before entering the 7th grade. The Tdap vaccine is (Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis/Whooping Cough), which your child has had as a toddler.
For your child to be compliant with the SC Immunization Law Requirements you must provide proof of vaccine on a valid SC Certificate of Immunization.
Please make an appointment with your child’s health care provider. Other providers such as Urgent Care and Minute Clinic, administer Tdap vaccines as well.
If your child has already had the Tdap vaccine, please submit it to the school nurse. You can also email it to mireland@horrycountyschools.net or Fax to 843-903-8421

School safety is everyone’s responsibility! The single most effective preventative tool regarding school safety and security is the “If you see something, say something ®” protocol. It is critically important that if students see or hear something that is concerning, they say something to a trusted adult or report it below.
All students in Horry County Schools will receive free breakfast and lunch during the 2024-2025 school year as part of the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program.

Tutoring at the Bay
Ocean Bay Middle School is proud to offer every student the opportunity to participate in our Extended Learning Program for additional academic support outside of the regular school day. Your student is invited to participate in our Rays Extended Learning Program.
In the Rays Extended Learning Program, sessions will be held in the afternoons on Tuesday and Thursday from after school until 4:45 PM, beginning on September 10, 2024.
Students will receive assistance on content area assignments, homework, and any missing assignments reflected from PowerSchool. Students will have the opportunity to work on digital content as well.
A permission form is required. Students are not required to attend every session offered. They may attend as needed.
Bus transportation will NOT be provided. All students are to be picked up by 4:45 PM. If your student is not picked up by 5:00 PM, it is possible that your child will be unable to participate in the afternoon Extended Learning Program.

Ocean Bay Golf Champs!
These 4 girls won the JV division of Horry County Championship tournament on 9/5/24.
Their scores were better than some of the high school teams.
Also, 3 of the 4 received all tournament medals for the lowest scores in their division.
Lilia Kosonen individually won the JV division and Riley Gardner was recognized for her low score.

Ready for some OBMS Football!
All middle school football games are played at the feeder high school and tickets are typically housed under the feeder high school’s website.
Middle schools will scrimmage for the next two weeks. There will be a charge to attend the scrimmages.
How to buy Tickets – see the different options
- On the high school website cfpanthers.com under tickets there is a link to all the other high schools ticket sites
- Buy a booster club pass that works at all home regular season games at CFHS, BWMS, OBMS, and TOMS. Student passes and Black Hole passes can only be purchased for students to enter games. To purchase student passes the student ID number will be needed for the passcode. Anybody that is not a student using the pass, will have the pass revoked.
Game Day Information for Fans
- Ticket is good for 1 general admission for the event listed on the ticket. All school aged children must have a ticket.
- SCHSL Passes, HCS Staff Badges, and HCS Top 65 passes will be honored at the gate for regular season games.
- **Clear bag policy and Metal Detector searches are in place and will be enforced at the gate.**
- Please be courteous and follow all posted policy signs at the venue's entrance.
- No Cash Sales at the event. Cash tickets sold during school hours at CFHS
- No-Re-Entry without a new ticket and search.
- No Outside Food or Drinks and No Water Bottles or Cups
- No Umbrellas
- Only service animals are allowed on school campus and at events.
- Gates open at 5:00 PM
Stingray Football Shirts
Once the OBMS football team numbers have been assigned, Mrs. DeForrest will be placing a shirt order (like the shirts shown below). Please reach out to her if you would like to order one. You can text Mrs. DeForrest at 843.446.1498.
Shirts are available in teal, gray, or black. Cost is $25 for the basic Stingray shirt and $28 to have the players name and number printed on the back. Please text her with the size/color you would like to purchase & indicate if you want a plain shirt or one with a name & number (if you would like it customized). Please include the correct spelling of the name and the athlete's number for your order.

Student Council
The first Student Council meeting with new and returning members is Monday 9/16 from 3:30-4:30 in the library. Students who applied for Student Council should check their email. If they were selected, they should receive an invitation to the Student Council Schoology Group.
Beta Club - Existing 8th Grade Members
Beta members (current 8th graders) there is a service opportunity with our Special Olympics Bowling Event on Saturday, September 14 - Please see Ms. Mysholowsky for details.

The Dungeons & Dragon Club will be holding an interest meeting, Thursday September 5th. Mr. Sperling & Mr. Morris are encouraging all students who were a part of the club last year, as well as any students who are interested to learn more about D&D to attend the meeting. The meeting will be held in Mr. Sperling’s room after school and will run until 4:30pm. Please make sure to have a parent or guardian here to pick you up after the meeting.

Team sports bring people together. Special Olympics Unified Sports® teams do that, too and much more. With over a million people worldwide that take part in Unified Sports, breaking down stereotypes about people with intellectual disabilities in a really fun way. ESPN has served as the Global Presenting Sponsor of Special Olympics Unified Sports since 2013, supporting the growth and expansion of this program that empowers individuals with and without intellectual disabilities to engage through the power of sports.
