Attendance
Every school day we choose three random students as attendance winners. If they were on time to school, they get to come to the office and spin the prize wheel. Also, we pick a random student for perfect attendance each week and they earn 3 points for their House. Last week's winner was Elayna A. from Astrologos. Way to go Elayna!
Please call the attendance line at 916-979-8142 or email NorthridgeAbsence@sanjuan.edu when your student is absent. It's okay to also let the teacher know, but they don't always relay the information to the office. Also, if your student is out due to an appointment please remember to get a note from the doctor/dentist and bring it to the office once they return.
Our current attendance rate is 91.41%.

Character Trait of the Month
Every month we highlight and give House points for students who demonstrate the positive character trait of the month. The character trait for April is patience, which is shown by taking turns, waiting with a positive attitude and not getting upset, being a forgiving friend, putting up with problems or delays without getting angry or upset, and learning to wait for what you want.
Dress Code
Community invited to provide feedback on draft revised student dress code policy
San Juan Unified students, families, staff and community are invited to share their input on the district’s draft revised student dress code policy.
Over the last several years, students across the district have expressed concerns about the current San Juan Unified student dress code policy and a desire to see a more inclusive policy that aligns with the district’s 8-point Commitment to Educational Justice.
A district dress code committee was formed, and after extensive feedback gathering, the committee drafted a revised dress code policy. The revised dress code policy would ensure consistency in policy across all San Juan Unified schools.
The community is encouraged to visit www.sanjuan.edu/dresscode to view the draft revised policy and learn about ways to provide your feedback, including a brief online survey, and both virtual and in-person informational sessions. The survey will remain open through May 17.
Driving Safety
Drop Off and Pick Up
Please pick your child(ren) up within 10 minutes of dismissal. TK & Kindergarten students should be picked up right at dismissal at 12:55 p.m. We understand in case of an ACTUAL EMERGENCY, but would appreciate a call to the office at 916-971-7066 if you will be late picking up. In addition, please schedule your appointments so that you will be able to pick your children up on time, as we do not provide childcare in the office after school. Thank you.

Family Night - Save the Date
Northridge is bringing a fun family event to campus on Thursday, May 23, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. There will be hands-on STEAM activities such as bike-pump powered foam rockets, introduction to coding, geometric robots, circuit town, and an oversized marble run. The activities will be hosted by ReCreate and are sure to be educational and fun! We will also have tables set up with information from our FACE department and the Fair Oaks Library. PTA will be offering ice cream, too. Save the date so you don't miss this fun-filled evening at our school!
Houses
At Northridge, we have six Houses (Astrologos-black shirt, Dobrota-purple shirt, Mahalo-light blue shirt, Pativ-yellow shirt, Tiyaga-green shirt and Valeroso-red shirt) that celebrate positive character traits (Dreamer, Empathy, Gratitude, Honor, Perseverance, and Courage). The purpose of the House System is to promote a positive and welcoming environment in which students, staff, and community members feel a strong sense of belonging. Students who show positive character traits can earn points for their House. House points are totaled each week, and the winning House's flag will hang in the office window the following week. Also, each trimester the winning House has a celebration. The overall winning House each school year is announced the next school year at the first House Rally and a banner is presented to hang in the MP Room. Every student was given one free House shirt, which we wear on Fridays.
House Rally
We had a great House Rally last Friday. Check out Facebook https://www.facebook.com/NRWildcats and/or Instagram https://www.instagram.com/nrwildcats/ for pictures and videos.

Also, please note that if you need to speak to your child while they are at school, please do not pull up to the fence during recess. You must check in at the office and we will call your student up to speak with you. Thank you for helping to keep all of our students feeling safe at school!
