A Message from Principal Johnson
Hello DCPR Families!
We are now in the month of November, can you believe it?
We would like to thank the brave men and women who served our country with Honor, Respect, and Gratitude.
Thank you to all of our Volunteers and Chaperones who showed up to support our Kindergarten and 1st graders on their field trip, as well as our parents that joined us for our Honors Assembly. We are forever grateful for your support.
Please be sure to read our newsletter to its entirety as we offer up fresh updates and upcoming events.
Educationally yours,
Principal Johnson

BACKGROUND CHECKS FOR VOLUNTEERS & CHAPERONES
All participants must complete and submit a background check application to gain clearance to volunteer or chaperone for any school related trips or events. Once submitted, please check your inbox or spam for the email to complete the process. Please be advised that the request for documentation is time-sensitive and will expire if not completed in a timely fashion.
⏰THE IMPORTANCE OF ATTENDANCE and CHRONIC ABSENCES
Attendance is extremely important here at DCP-REDFORD. Everyday of school missed is a great deal of information to catch up on for a scholar. Please give your child the best opportunity to be successful and send them to school each day, on time.
Chronic absenteeism is a big problem for most schools. Did you know that if a student has a 90% attendance rate they are considered chronically absent? That means they have missed at least 18 days of school. We must begin to correct this trend for the students here at DCPR. Please help us in our goal of decreasing the number of students that are considered chronically absent.
Behavioral Expectations:
- Disciplinary Code - DCP Redford has adopted a new Disciplinary Code of Conduct that outlines violations and consequences, which will be implemented and enforced this school year. Each family should have received a copy, as well as the acknowledgement page that must be signed and returned. If you need a copy, please contact our office.
CELLPHONE POLICY📵
- Cell Phone Policy - Families, please remind your scholars that cell phones and other electronic devices that have not been issued by DCPR will not be allowed during school hours. You should have received a copy of the policy, which includes the procedures for turning phones in at the start of the day.
CLEAR BACKPACKS 6th-8th GRADE
DRESS CODE VIOLATIONS🚫
Scholars who are in violation of the dress code will receive the following consequences.
- First offense: You will receive a phone call asking that you bring appropriate clothing for your scholar.
- The second offense will result in a write-up, which will go into the scholar's file, you will also receive a call
- The third offense will result in a mandatory parent conference
- The fourth offense will result in a 1 day suspension.
In addition, your child will receive one demerit for each day they are not dressed in uniform This will decrease the amount of Live School points/dollars that they are able to earn.
If you are unable to obtain uniforms for your scholars, please contact our School Enrollment Coordinator Ms. Patrice Clark at patrice.clark@dcpschools.org

Please look for your parent information to come home this week so that you can access your scholars account. This will allow you to stay on top of your child's behavior. If you have any questions regarding LiveSchool, please contact Ms.Key at (313)543-3226.
