Greetings Kindergarten Families

Greetings Kindergarten Families,

We have had a wonderful week filled with lots of learning! Kids are working hard at following rules and routines and working together. A reminder that there is no school on Monday, January 20 for Martin Luther King, Jr. day.

Following are some important reminders to keep in mind for this school year:

School hours are 7:20-3:05. If you are dropping your child off after 7:20, please park in the front parking lot and sign your child in at the front office. If you are arriving after 3:30pm for pickup, please park in the front parking lot and walk to the office with your car tag.
Transportation changes need to go through the office. Please call 972-617-3523 before 2:00 pm for any transportation changes.
Contacting your child's teacher: If you call or email your child's teacher, they will respond within 24 hours as our focus during the day is your students.
Lunch with your student: Parents are welcome to visit during lunches of scholars on any day of the week.
Birthday treats: Birthday treats will only be served on Fridays. You may drop off treats in the office and they will be delivered to the classroom.

Art Club

If your child signed up for Art Club, we will have our first meeting/activity on Thursday, February 6.

Attendance Matters

Arriving on time ensures that your child can begin the day smoothly, without missing out on valuable instruction time or important activities. Please help us by ensuring your child arrives at school by 7:25 ready to win the day.

School Cash

Pay for field trips and student school fees

School Cash will be open soon for you to pay for the field trip.

Clubs

Clubs will be starting up soon -- please stay tuned for time and day.

What We Are Learning

ELAR

Students will be working on making personal connections to stories, then writing in complete sentences on those connections. Our sight words are: one, we.

Math

We will continue our study on 2 dimensional shapes and focus on creating them using different materials.

Social Studies and Science

Social Studies: We learn about weather in different geographical locations

Science: We will continue our study on our natural resources and how we use them

Suite 360: We will learn how to solve social problems

Ideas for Learning at Home

Read, Read, Read

Read with your child every day. Have your child find the beginning of the sentence and the end of the sentence. Play eye-spy punctuation marks. Practice spying "high frequency" words in texts. Look for: the, we, and one.

Math activities

Have your child use shapes to create a picture. See how many different shapes you can use! Ask your child to name the shapes and count how many they used.

Be a scientist

Make "snow" in a jar! You will need baby oil, water with a little white paint, glitter and an AlkaSeltzer tablet. Fill a small jar half full with the oil, then add a sprinkle of glitter. Pour the water/paint mixture in the jar. Drop in a half tablet and stir. Then, put the lid on and watch your snow!
