Halloween Reminder/Information
At Cottage Lake, our classrooms will not hold a specific Halloween party for their students. We will hold a classroom party, but this will look like a Fall harvest/celebration. Additionally, costumes should NOT be worn on Halloween. This is a school-wide decision and has been in place for several years. We strive to support an inclusive environment for each student and family.
If your student is really looking for a time to wear a costume to school, the PTA is holding their Monster Mash next Friday, October 25. This is a great time for your children to dress up for this event.
Veterans Day Concert
An Invitation From Mrs. Hanning, Cottage Lake’s Music Specialist:
I am very excited to let you know that Cottage Lake will have an assembly for Veterans Day on Friday, November 8th at 2:40.
We will be honoring our Community’s and Country’s Veterans and active military personnel during this assembly. The 4th/5th grade students will be performing beautiful and meaningful Patriotic songs to honor and show our respect. Our CLE will also perform one joint Choral song!
Cottage Lake students and families are welcome and encouraged to extend an invite to any Veterans or active military personnel family members, or friends to join us. We would like to have as many guest Veterans as we can get to share this experience with us!
Thank you,
Mrs. Hanning

Northshore's Social-Emotional survey (Panorama & Google survey)
Northshore School District believes that for all students to be successful, they must feel a sense of belonging and personal connection to our school communities. We are committed to providing our students the services and support needed to achieve this goal. Students’ perception and feedback on how they experience well-being, safety and relationships, and school climate and culture is vitally important to ensuring supportive school environments for each and every Northshore student.
Cottage Lake students in grades K-5 will have the opportunity in the fall and spring to take the survey at school. The survey's will be administered online to students during specific survey windows.
Our survey windows are as follows:
- October 14-25, 2024
- March 17-28, 2024
Volunteer Trainings for NEW to Cottage Lake families/adults
Attention NEW to Cottage Lake families,
At Cottage Lake, we hold Volunteer Trainings for all adults working at our school. These are similar to the district volunteer video/training, but specific to Cottage Lake. I ask that each adult who volunteers at Cottage Lake to participate in the training once while I am the Principal. During this training, I will note specifics about supporting students at Cottage Lake and volunteering in general. Parents do not need to sign-up or register for a training. Each training will run approximately 30 minutes in length.
The Volunteer Trainings that have been scheduled so far this school year are:
- October 25th @ 12:00 PM
Parents do not need to attend multiple trainings; you need to attend one if you are new to Cottage Lake.
