Magyar's Message May 17, 2024
-From The Desk of the Superintendent-
Dear ALCS Families,
The school days are fewer, but the celebrations are plentiful. Tomorrow (May 18) our seniors will be attending Prom at Cleveland Browns Stadium. It’s a joyous occasion and we are thankful to the many organizers and volunteers who make events like this possible. Be safe seniors, have fun and make great memories.
Tomorrow the Dazzle Awards are also taking place at the KeyBank State Theatre downtown. Click here to watch our Avon Lake High School students and directors walk the Red Carpet live tomorrow (beginning at 5:30 p.m.) on Playhouse Square.
Avon Lake High School recently participated in the annual Buckle Up Bowl sponsored by Lorain County Public Health. The Buckle Up Bowl is a competition among area high schools for the highest percentage of students wearing seatbelts. Prom and graduation season also bring with it added reminders to be safe on the roads. I am proud to say our students really embraced the campaign as I noticed many signs throughout the school reminding students to buckle up. Congratulations ALHS, winners of the “Best Buckled” school with a seat belt usage rate of 97%!
Last weekend all three high school orchestras competed as a combined high school string orchestra at Cedar Point's "Music in the Parks Festival." Schools from multiple states competed in the event. ALHS earned a "Superior" rating" and won "Best High School Orchestra" in its division. The highlight of the event was receiving the "Best High School Orchestra Overall" across all of the divisions. This is an outstanding accomplishment. Bravo to all!
Thank you to everyone who voted for our elementary school entrepreneurs who participated in the Young Entrepreneur Pitch Challenge this year. Each student who participated should take great pride in their diligent efforts in problem-solving, critical thinking, and presentation skills.
The entrepreneurs listed below are the K-4 2024 YEI Pitch Challenge winners! Congratulations!

Each one has made a special contribution to the ALCS and we thank them for their service. We wish them nothing but the best as they begin a new chapter in their lives. Together Shoremen, Forever Shoremen.
Thank you for your continued support of our schools.
Sincerely,
Joelle Magyar
