Parent -Teacher Conferences

Conferences are a great time for us to sit down and celebrate your students. If you did not get a chance to sign up for a conference during Open House, please contact your child's teacher as soon as possible to schedule a time to meet.

Motherly Figures and Fatherly Figures Breakfasts

Last year, we started hosting 4 total breakfasts a year: 2 for Motherly Figures and 2 for Fatherly Figures. These breakfasts were greatly attended and we are SO EXCITED to continue those breakfasts. These mornings are a great time for you to just get some extra, intentional time with your children, free of all of the other distractions of the normal routines. We truly hope you are able to attend! So that everyone can already put the dates on their calendar, we wanted to let you know when they would occur. The breakfasts start at 7:50 a.m. and end at 8:40 a.m. The dates are:

Tuesday, October 1: Fatherly Figures Breakfast
Tuesday, November 19: Motherly Figures Breakfast
Tuesday, January 28: Fatherly Figures Breakfast
Tuesday, March 31: Motherly Figures Breakfast

A Look at the Week Ahead

Reading:

This week we will read a set of books in which we learn about narrative non-fiction. We will also be continuing small group instruction through Reader's Workshop. In phonics, we will continue to focus on long vowel sounds using the silent "e".

Writing:

This week we will continue working on the writing process as we move into focusing on appropriate feedback from and for peers.

Math:

We will begin Unit 3 over 2-digit subtraction strategies. The focus strategies for this week will be using a 100's chart, open number line, number bonds, and base 10 blocks.

Content:

This week we will finish up our Kidz Court unit and begin our next unit called Show Me Mo. In this new unit, we will focus on learning about what makes our region unique.
