Monty Money Winners!
Monty's Corner: Don't Forget Picture Retakes Tuesday
Tigers,
Thank you to all the families that took the time to go out and vote and help pass the Sinking Fund that directly supports our students, staff school, district and community. We are very thankful for all your continued support and partnership in the success of all students in GPPSS.
I had a wonderful lunch with the Principal Pumpkin Winners on Monday. We got to enjoy lunch and laughter while celebrating their creative designs.
As the weather continues to change please make sure that your child has an EXTRA SET of CLOTHES in their lockers! In michigan you never know if it's going to rain, snow or be 80 degress in November so it's important to have that extra set just in case.
A few parents have also asked if there is something they can do at home to support their child's reading and math growth. In GPPSS we are lucky to have 3 online programs that you can access at home to support your child:
Lexia
RGR (K-4)
Freckle
All of these can be accessed through your child's Clever Login

Happy Birthday Blaze!
Can I bring in birthday treats for my child’s birthday?
We celebrate birthdays at Monteith by giving each student a birthday book and bookmark during their birthday month.
Due to the large number of student allergies, we no longer can allow any type of birthday cakes, cupcakes or cookies in the elementary schools (except for teacher scheduled celebrations) . Please save the present celebrations for home parties. If students want to bring in a small goodie bag of non-edible items ( Ex: pop-its, pencils, etc.) that is allowed but not necessary. If you do send in something with your child it needs to be for the whole class not just a couple students.
Kindness matters at Monteith and Always!

Boomerang Winners
The Boomerang: What you give to the world you get back...So give KINDNESS
Our Boomerang Award winners this week are: Ms. Elizabeth (LRC) and Mrs. Hartman (Library/Media)
Ms. Elizabeth brings happiness to everyone around her. She wants the best for all students and provides support to students to help them feel successful. She is always willing to help in anyway she can with students, staff and around the school. We are so lucky to have positive, compassionate and kind person like Ms. Elizabeth at Monteith.
Mrs. Hartman keeps the library running efficiently and recess safe, makes us all laugh daily, and is THE heart of Monteith. She is supportive of everyone professionally, and personally as well. When someone needs help you don't even have to ask she is already there to help you through any situation.

Thank You for Supporting GPPSS
Dear GPPSS Community,
On November 5, 2024 the community members of Grosse Pointe were asked to consider a 3 mill levy for a period of 10 years (2025-2034). We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the citizens who cast their vote during this election.
This successful passage of the 2024 sinking fund is a positive step forward for our students. It will support GPPSS' efforts to maintain and improve its physical infrastructure, allow for significant investments in school safety and security measures, and provide funding for technology enhancements to support modern education.
In the coming months, there will be more information provided to the community on our ongoing efforts, allowing clear transparency between the district and community members. Your continued commitment to our school district and students is appreciated and valued as we all work together to prepare our students for success.
Again, thank you - our students are the direct beneficiary of your support.
Sincerely,
Dr. Andrea Tuttle

Music News
In Kindergarten music, we learn to keep a steady beat and use a singing voice. We listen and move our bodies to music to demonstrate fast/slow and loud/quiet. Students also learn to play different classroom instruments such as drums, boomwhackers, rhythm sticks, and maracas.
Art News
After studying Claude Monet and his series paintings, third graders created four birch trees, all at different times of day and year. First students created a resist for white bark by using tape. Next, they loved choosing just the right watercolor combinations to represent how they wanted the sky to look during different climates to create different types of moods. We removed the tape to expose the white birch and added texture to the bark by using a toothbrush for a dry-brush effect and to make the tree look curved and 3D. Students added leaves based on the seasons they chose. Don’t you just love how beautiful these are? Well done, third grade!
Our Monteith Tigers have been doing a fantastic job earning their PBIS reward in art class! Some classes are already working toward their second "Free Art Day"—a reflection of their respectful, responsible, and safe behavior. In line with our Monteith pledge, students are encouraged to explore creativity and imagination while choosing school-appropriate themes in their artwork. We ask that students refrain from using characters or scenes from movies, TV, video games, or other digital media, as we respect the diversity of family values regarding screen media. Thank you for supporting our community of creative, respectful learners!
