August 2024
LISD Families,
It has been great to see all of our students returning to school this week. The energy on the campuses is contagious, and seeing all of our families rally around our schools to ensure a great start to the year makes me so grateful to be a part of Lewisville ISD.
I always want to express my appreciation for your patience as we know the start of school is full of adjusting to new routines and procedures, arrival and dismissal patterns, bus routes, and more.
As we face soaring temperatures outside, our Facility Services team is working hard to monitor the performance of our 7,500 Air Conditioning Units. For recess, athletics, and fine arts outdoor activities, you can find our heat policies on our back to school website HERE.
The support of our community and families means so much to our staff and helps us keep the great staff that we have. You can help us this school year by showing your appreciation with our staff through our Recognize SomeONE program. We had over 7,000 Recognize SomeONE’s appreciating our staff last school year, and we are looking to surpass that number this year! Show your appreciation for their hard work preparing for back to school by completing a Recognize SomeONE today!
In this month’s newsletter there are several updates, including an update on the important work of the LISD Community Efficiency Committee, ways for you to get involved with your child’s school and the district, and updates on bond projects that have been completed throughout the summer.
I cannot wait to see what all our students accomplish this year, and I am so grateful to be a partner with you in their education. I will continue to bring you important updates each month! Let’s have a wonderful school year!

Many playgrounds have been replaced or enhanced, new flooring and casework has been installed, and new furniture has been delivered. Watch the video update below for a snapshot of projects that have taken place over the last couple of months.
Fall 2024 Projects
This fall, more casework will be installed at Arbor Creek and Lamar; marquees will be replaced at Garden Ridge Elementary, Lamar, Griffin, and Old Settlers Elementary; new track & field lighting will be installed at all five high schools, and more.

Community Efficiency Committee Update
The Community Efficiency Committee (CEC) is a group of more than 40 LISD stakeholders charged with representing the entire community in the review of facility usage and enrollment trends in order to create recommendations to report to the LISD Board of Trustees on how to proceed with boundary adjustments and facility usage.
The CEC has met twice so far and has discussed school finance, district demographics, attendance boundaries, current building capacities and staffing efficiency. Key takeaways from the CEC include the complexities of the school finance system; a number of LISD campuses are operating below capacity or optimal levels; minimum costs to operate a school building include factors beyond basics; the many variables that impact decisions in the most cost effective manner.
The CEC meets again later this month, and further updates will be provided to the Board and community.
