Principal's Message
WIN Time Update
Hello Trojan Families,
I wanted to provide an update on our WIN time for extra academic help. We’ve encountered a few issues with the system and are currently working with the company representatives to resolve these bugs.
In the meantime, please encourage your child to follow the WIN time guidelines for signing up and to complete their schedule as soon as possible. They can find the WIN schedule on their Canvas page, which will show which teachers are unavailable during the week.
Please note that students will not be able to self-sign up for study hall sessions. After exploring all classroom options, students should message Ms. Phillips (cphillip@rhmail.org) through Canvas to confirm their study hall requests.
We appreciate your patience and support as we work through these adjustments. I will keep you informed of any further changes to our WIN time schedule.
Best regards,
Michael Abraham
Principal
Please read the Conflict Resolution section and discuss with your child
Conflict Resolution
Conflict is a common challenge among teens, and navigating it effectively is crucial for personal growth and healthy relationships. When faced with a conflict, consider asking yourself these key questions:
Am I being reasonable? Reflect on whether your expectations and reactions are fair and balanced. It's important to approach the situation with a mindset that seeks understanding and compromise.
Am I being courageous? Addressing conflict often requires bravery. Are you willing to face the issue directly and engage in open, constructive dialogue?
Am I being honest? Honesty is vital for resolving conflicts. Ensure that you are expressing your true feelings and concerns while also being open to others' perspectives.
Am I being fair? Evaluate whether you are considering all sides of the situation and treating everyone involved with respect and impartiality.
Am I being humble? Acknowledge your own role in the conflict and be willing to admit mistakes. Humility can pave the way for genuine reconciliation and understanding.
By reflecting on these questions, you can approach conflicts with a more thoughtful and constructive mindset, leading to more effective and positive resolutions.
Parents, we need YOU to join SIC (Student Improvement Council)
SICs are advisory councils that bring together parents, educators, and community stakeholders to collaborate on the improvement of the school.
Who serves on an SIC?
Parents, teachers, students (9th grade or above), and community member representatives serve on an SIC, as do the school's principal and other ex-officio members.
What do SICs do?
SIC duties focus primarily on the school improvement process. SICs:
provide input and feedback during the development of the school's five-year renewal (improvement) plan and annual updates;
assist in implementation of school improvement programs and activities;
monitor and report on progress toward improvement goals in the annual SIC Report to the Parents and with the principal in the narrative to the SC School Report Card;
provide other assistance as requested by the principal.
For more information visit https://www.sc-sic.org/faqs
**Special Note**
- Sit down with your student, review grades, and sign up for WIN time & Clubs! (see instructions and club schedule below).
- Progress reports will be distributed this week.
**Personal Electronic Device Classroom Procedure**
Upon entering the classroom, power off or silence device.
Place device in classroom device holder.
Students will retrieve their phones at the end of class, following the teacher’s instructions.
