Davis Bilingual Magnet
May Newsletter
Dear Davis Bilingual Families,
It's hard to believe that we're already at the last newsletter of the 2023-2024 school year! Time has truly flown by, filled with incredible moments and achievements. As we approach the end of this incredible journey, I want to express my deepest gratitude for your support and active involvement in making this year a success. Your contributions, whether big or small, have enriched the educational experience for all our students and created a sense of warmth and inclusivity within our Davis Bilingual community.
To our fifth-grade families, I want to extend a special thank you for being an essential part of our school family. Your dedication and involvement have made a lasting impact, and you will be greatly missed as your students transition to middle school. I have every confidence that the values of In Lak'ech learned at Davis Bilingual Magnet will continue to guide them in their journey ahead.
As we approach the end of the school year, I also want to remind you that the last day for our Extended Day Program is fast approaching. May 17th will mark the final day for this service. If your child is currently enrolled, please make arrangements for after-school care beyond this date. Your attention to this matter and cooperation are greatly appreciated.
Let's continue to celebrate the achievements of the past year and look ahead to the possibilities of the future with optimism and enthusiasm. Together, we remain united in our commitment to excellence, inclusivity, and growth.
Warm regards,
Marisela Campillo
Student Council Elections for the 2024 -2025 SY
Get ready for an exciting opportunity for our students to shine as leaders! We are thrilled to announce that the Student Council Elections for the 2024-2025 school year are just around the corner.
This is a fantastic chance for students in grades 3 through 5 to step up and make a difference in our school community. Here's what you need to know about the positions available:
- Class President: Exclusively open to 5th-grade students.
- Vice President: Eligible for 4th and 5th-grade students.
- Secretary and Treasurer: Open to students in grades 3 through 5.
In addition, we will have representatives from 1st and 2nd grade, one per class. For these roles, we are looking for eager volunteers. No speech or campaign is required. The Teacher and Student Council Sponsor will work collaboratively to select the volunteer if more than one student submits a letter of interest.
If your child is interested in joining the Student Council, please ensure you fill out and return the forms that were distributed on April 30th. Additional copies are available in the school office. Please be sure to take note of the submission deadlines.
The highlight of the election process will be the Student Council Speeches, scheduled for May 15th, 2024, at 8:45 am in the cafeteria. It will be an inspiring event where candidates will share their visions and goals for our school community.
To help students with their campaigns, campaign poster paper is available to all students in the front office. Poster sizes are limited to 11 x 17 paper.
Encourage your child to consider running for a position or to support their peers in their campaign efforts. Together, we can cultivate leadership skills and foster a vibrant school environment.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community.

Improving Reading and Math at Home
We are continuously working to ensure our students make academic growth in math and reading . You can help us by encouraging your student to read nightly and/or work on one of TUSD's educational platforms. Research shows that doing just one extra session a day can have a tremendous impact on student learning. All students at Davis have access to wonderful resources such as Learning A-Z, and ST Math to support their continued growth in Reading and Math.
To access the various platforms, students just log into their Clever accounts and select the icons. Please contact your student's teacher if they have any trouble.
