Dear Alto Families,
I hope it was a wonderful holiday season for your families! It has been an unusual return to school with the additional days off, but it has been great to have students back in the building these past two weeks. There has been great energy centered around teaching and learning throughout the school. We’re excited for what promises to be a successful 2024 at Alto Elementary!
We have certainly experienced some winter weather recently. Thank you for preparing your children for the elements with appropriate winter gear. Please let us know if your child is in need of anything (boots, gloves, hat, coat, etc.). Our district cold weather policy is that we do not have our students go outside for recess if the windchill is at or below 0 degrees Fahrenheit.
Attention families with incoming kindergarteners!
Kindergarten enrollment for next fall will be open on Monday, February 5th. If you have a student who will turn 5 by September 1st, 2024, they can start their school journey. You may also sign a waiver for your child to start school if they turn 5 by December 1st, 2024. Required paperwork for enrollment includes proof of residency, original birth certificate, up to date immunizations and a health appraisal. Information can be found on our school website: https://www.lowellschools.com/our-district/enrollment/
January is National School Board Appreciation Month
January is National School Board Appreciation Month. Our board of education members volunteer MANY hours and have done an amazing job of guiding our district to the success we have had over the years. Alto Elementary would like to say THANK YOU to each of our seven school board members: Brian Krajewski, Laurie Kuna, Pat Nugent, Tom Kaywood, Jessica Curtis, Jennifer Dougherty, and Jared Blough.
The kids seem energized and ready to be back at school. The building always feels better when it is full of amazing kids and staff. I have seen many quality examples of high level teaching and learning going on in our classrooms this week. Alto Elementary is a GREAT place to be!
Enjoy your weekend!
Sincerely,
Paul Papes, Principal
