March News for Elementary Families
Dear Families,
It has been a very cold few weeks with snow and ice, but as we step into March, we’re hoping for a bit of the Luck of the Irish to bring us warmer days ahead!
Building Strong Learners at Home
A little practice goes a long way! Here are some simple ways to support your child’s learning every day:
📚 Read together – Even just 10–15 minutes a day builds strong reading skills!
🔤 Practice sight words & spelling words – A quick review at breakfast or bedtime can make a difference!
➕ Review math facts – Make it fun with flashcards, online games, or quick challenges while driving!
Your encouragement at home helps reinforce what students are learning in school building confidence!
Upcoming Events & Important Dates
March 7– Middle Grade Glow Party (Volunteers & snack donations still needed!)
March 17– St. Patrick’s Day Don’t forget to wear your lucky green!
March 24– Report Cards Distributed
Even though winter is still holding on, spring and brighter days are just around the corner! Let’s march forward together and make this month one filled with growth, learning, and a little bit of magic!
Wishing you all a wonderful March—may it be filled with luck, learning, and laughter!
Together, we grow!
We’re excited to announce a fun new reading challenge in partnership with Sky Zone in Queensbury! It’s called Book Zone: Read 5 Books and Get a Free 30-Minute Jump!
Here’s how it works:
Read 5 books – either on your own or with a parent/guardian.
Record the titles of the books on the special Sky Zone bookmark.
Once the bookmark is complete, get it signed by both a parent/guardian and a teacher to verify the reading achievement.
Bring the completed bookmark to Sky Zone and receive one free 30-minute jump!
Reminders....
Report Card Distribution – March 24
Report cards for the current marking period will be distributed on Friday, March 24. This is an important opportunity to review your child's progress and celebrate their hard work and achievements.
We encourage you to take time to go over the report card with your child, discuss their strengths, and set goals for continued growth. If you have any questions or would like to schedule a conference with your child’s teacher, please feel free to reach out.
Thank you for your partnership in supporting student success!

March's Character Trait: Self-control
This month, we are focusing on the importance of self-control—demonstrating hard work and commitment, improving ourselves while making responsible choices, and always striving to do our best.
Self-control helps children manage their emotions, stay focused on their goals, and make thoughtful decisions. It means persevering through challenges, even when things get tough, and choosing to act in ways that are respectful and productive.
At school, we encourage students to practice self-control by:
Staying focused on tasks, even when distractions arise
Managing frustration and using coping strategies when upset
Listening and following directions without interrupting
Taking responsibility for their actions and choices
Families play a key role in reinforcing self-control at home. You can support your child by:
Setting routines that build responsibility and independence
Encouraging problem-solving and perseverance in difficult situations
Modeling patience and thoughtful decision-making
Celebrating efforts and growth, not just outcomes
Together, we can help children develop the self-discipline and commitment they need to succeed in school and beyond! Thank you for partnering with us in fostering this essential life skill.
A Message From the Health Offices
Health and Dental Examination Requirements
Prepare for the 2025/2026 School Year!
Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s) of incoming Pre-K, current Pre-K, Kindergarten, 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, and 10th graders,
In accordance with New York State law, all students entering the school district for the first time and those entering Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, and 11th grades are required to undergo a health examination. The examination must be conducted by a New York State-licensed physician, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner, and documented on the NYS-approved physical form. Physicals performed on or after September 5, 2024, are acceptable for submission.
Upon request, the school can provide a list of dentists and registered dental hygienists offering services at a reduced or no cost.
A copy of the completed health examination must be submitted to the school within 30 days from when your child first starts school, and when entering Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, and 11th grades. If the school does not receive the examination within this time frame, you will be contacted. If your child has a scheduled exam after the first 30 days of school, please inform the Health Office of the appointment date.
For your convenience, we’ve enclosed a physical exam form and a dental certificate for your healthcare provider’s use.
Clear communication between your child’s private healthcare provider and the school health staff is crucial for safe and effective care. Please note that your healthcare provider cannot share your child’s health information with school health staff without your signed consent. We recommend discussing the completion of this consent form with your provider during your child’s examination appointment.
Before submitting the forms to the Health Office, we suggest making copies for your records. You may also fax the forms to the number below.
It's not too early! If your child is due for a mandated physical next year, please send the completed form to their current school nurse, as they are already conducting these exams now.
Sincerely,
Kimberly Bachich, RN - Primary (518) 692-9542 ext. 1010 - Fax (518) 692-7658

Preparing for Winter Weather
During this season, we are enlisting families' help to ensure children are dressed appropriately for the weather. Hats, gloves or mittens, and boots are essential to keeping them safe and warm during the winter months. This is especially important for MG students who may not always want to dress for the elements. Thank you for your support!
