Spring Term at VC
Is your student interested in enrolling in a college class this Spring term (January-May)? Students can take classes to explore a possible career interest, take a class as a hobby, or get a jump start on college credits. Registration begins on November 15th but students need to complete the dual enrollment steps prior to enrollment. If your student needs help selecting a class or getting started on the process, please have them drop by to see their school counselor.
Seniors Planning to Attend VC Next Fall
If your graduating senior is planning to attend VC in the Fall of 2025, they need to take a series of steps to earn the Ventura Promise Grant (free tuition). The first step is to apply to Ventura College as a graduating senior and then activate their student portal to complete their online student orientation. The VC Outreach Team will be at FTHS on November 15th and 20th to help our students successfully launch this process. Here is the timeline on the VC enrollment process for our graduating seniors .
ASVAB offered at BHS November 19th at 8:30
If your student is interested in pursuing a career in the military, they may want to consider taking the ASVAB Test offered at Buena High School on November 19th at 8:30. All students who wish to participate must complete a permission slip and return it to Mrs. Napora in B-113 at FTHS by November 15th. Not able to make it on November 19th? VHS will offer it next semester so we will keep you posted on future dates.
Aviation Career Day
On October 18th, FTHS students attended an Aviation Career Day at the Camarillo Airport. Students were able to speak with professionals in the aviation industry, witness demonstrations, and participate in a "Make Garbage Fly" homemade airplane competition.
College Rep Visits
We've had a busy college application season at FTHS with many schools from around the country visiting our campus to meet with our students. Admissions representatives from as far as Syracuse in New York and Wake Forest University in North Carolina have shared highlights of their campuses and details of college life in their neck of the woods. Many thanks to the college reps that were on hand to assist our students with their college applications mid-October for our UC, CSU and Common Application workshops. For a list of future guest speakers and details on how to sign up, visit our FTHS College/Career website.
