The Scholastic Book Fair is now Open for business. The LAST day of Book Fair will be on October 24th. All profits will go towards purchasing new furniture that promotes collaboration and allows more flexible seating options within the media center. Classes will shop between October 18 - 24. The Book Fair will also be open until 6:00 pm Wednesday, October 23 and 4:00 pm Thursday, October 24.
The Book Fair will be CASHLESS this year! Parents are welcome to come shop with their child when their class comes to shop, during Literacy Night, or after school on early release days. We will accept credit/debit cards, Google Pay, and Apple Pay from parents. Parents can also set up eWallet accounts through Scholastic. If you set up an eWallet account, family and friends can add to the account as well! If you plan for your child to shop without an adult (not their teacher), your child will need an eWallet account.

Coming in November:
Lovin Elementary Schools Annual Veterans Day Program
On Friday, November 8th, Lovin Elementary will present our annual Veterans’ Day Program. During this time, our students will honor the men and women who have served in the armed forces of the United States of America. Our program will begin at 9:00 am on Friday, November 8th. Following our program, we will have our traditional parade around our school, followed by a reception with light refreshments for our veterans and their families.
We would like to invite you and your family to enjoy this program with us. If you, a relative, or a family friend is a veteran or is presently serving in the military and can attend our program, we would like to recognize them in a special way. If you have a veteran or active service member who will be present at our program, please complete the form below and send it back no later than Friday, October 25th. This will allow us enough time to prepare the certificates and order their medals.
Additionally, we will have a brief video presentation using photographs of our veterans. If you have a photo of your veteran in uniform, we would also like to include them in this presentation. Please send the photograph(s) as well as the form on the back to your child’s teacher in a sealed envelope with your child’s name and their teacher’s name. Your child may turn their marked envelope to their teacher or drop them off at the front office. The photographs will be returned promptly after they have been scanned.
Thank you for your help with this worthwhile matter, and we hope to see everyone in November for our program.
Sincerely,
Caroline Suggs
International Night is Coming

Counselors Corner
October is national Bully Prevention month. At Lovin, we will continue to deliver bully prevention lessons throughout the school year
PBIS
Another significant piece in our PBIS framework are our Tiger Dens. We have 6 dens: Confianza (trust), Mutunci (integrity), Nuli (effort), Numuun (growth), Respe (respect), and Servicio (service). All students and staff members are divided into dens when they arrive at Lovin. Each homeroom class has a mix of students from all dens. The last Friday of each month, students meet with their den mates and teacher during TIGER Time to participate in a PBIS lesson and make connections with their den mates.
In October’s den meeting, all students learned about conflict resolution and discussed some strategies to use when working to resolve a conflict. We also have a friendly den competition to see which den can earn the most points for our TIGER Trait focus each month. The winning den receives a treat at their monthly den meeting. In the month of October, our TIGER Trait focus was RESPECT. The Confianza den earned the most points for RESPECT in the month of October.
Our TIGER Trait focus for November is RESPECT, again. We can’t wait to see what den earns the most points for RESPECT this month!
