Welcome to the 2024-2025 School Year at Field Middle School!
My name is Nicole Kosewick, and I am thrilled to embark on my 21st year in education. I spent 13 years in the classroom as a high school English teacher. I also spent time as Field's Athletic Director and Assistant Principal at both Field High School and Field Middle School.
This year, we will be using ParentSquare for all communications, so please be sure to sign up. Our weekly newsletters will be sent out every Friday afternoon and will include the upcoming week's lunch menu, important dates, and snapshots of our students in action!
I am honored to lead the Field Middle School Falcons into what promises to be a fantastic year! I look forward to all the learning and fun that awaits us.
Go Falcons!
Warm regards,
Nicole Kosewick
Courtyard Crew-Summer Enrichment Project
The Courtyard Crew completed many summer projects this year. In addition to cleaning up the courtyard and mulching, students made two Destination Distance Poles, each featuring places students learn about while in middle school (USA version & world version). We are excited to have students back in the building to appreciate the Courtyard Crew's hard work while they learn about everything the world has to offer!
Fishing Crew- Summer Enrichment Project
FMS students had a fantastic time fishing at Mogadore Reservoir this summer! They reeled in an impressive variety of fish, including largemouth bass, redear sunfish, bluegill, black and white crappie, yellow perch, channel catfish, and brown bullhead. It was a memorable experience filled with excitement and successful catches!
Substitutes Needed
We are now hiring classified substitute workers for various roles, including Playground Monitors, Educational Aides, Cafeteria Workers, Secretarial Staff, Custodial Staff, Bus Aides, and Bus Drivers. A current BCI & FBI background check is required before applying for any substitute position. Some positions may also require an aide permit, which the Administration Office can help you obtain. You have the flexibility to work the hours that suit you, and you'll be on call to cover for regular employees. For more details or assistance with the application process, please contact Bev Bable at the Administration Office-beverly.bable@fieldlocalschools.org.
S.O.A.R.ing at Field Middle School
As part of Field Middle School’s PBIS (positive behavioral interventions and supports) initiative, students at FMS will focus on promoting positive behavior expectations in various settings throughout the school year. As Field Falcons, our students are encouraged to S.O.A.R. by exhibiting the following positive behaviors; Safe, Outstanding, Accountable, and Respectful. Whether it’s in the classroom, cafeteria, parking lot, or the athletic field, FMS has established these behavior expectations to promote an enriching and supportive learning environment for all students.
Throughout the school year, students will take part in engaging lessons which hone in on the significance of each component of our S.O.A.R. initiative. Teachers and staff members will reward positive behavior with S.O.A.R. cards which can be exchanged for various prizes. Additionally, each quarter students who embody these qualities will participate in an incentive activity of their choosing. At FMS we take great pride in our students and want to see all of them reach their full potential and S.O.A.R. to be their very best everyday.
SOAR Staff of the Month
Congratulations to Mr. Tracy, Mr. Davis, and Mr. Sears for being named Staff of the Month for August! This summer, this dedicated team worked tirelessly to make Field Middle School shine, both inside and out. They tackled painting, waxing, cleaning, repairs, adjustments, and so much more to ensure everything was perfect for the start of the school year. Your hard work and commitment have made FMS a safer and more beautiful place for our students and staff. Thank you for your outstanding efforts!
Sixth Grade Parents
This letter is to inform you of the immunization requirements for students entering the 7th grade in the state of Ohio. All seventh-grade students will be required to have one additional dose of Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis), as a booster to the initial series of required doses. Ohio is requiring the Tdap vaccine, as opposed to Td, to protect against Pertussis (whooping cough). In addition to the Tdap, your child is also required to receive the Meningococcal vaccine prior to the entry into Grade 7. The Meningococcal vaccine prevents bacteria that is commonly spread from person to person, especially in teens and young adults. These bacteria can cause meningitis, which is an infection of the fluid and lining surrounding the brain and spinal cord; it can also enter the bloodstream, causing sepsis. Please contact your health care provider to schedule an appointment to receive the vaccines your child will need for the next year. For a complete list of immunization requirements for school-age children in the State of Ohio, please go to:
www.odh.ohio.gov/odhPrograms/dis/Immunization/imunchsc.aspx
REQUIRED 7th Grade shots (2 shots):
· Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis)
· Meningococcal vaccine
