World Kindness Day
On Wednesday November 13th, 2024, Mountain View Elementary students and staff celebrated “World Kindness Day.” Throughout the school day, various kindness-related activities took place including an opportunity for students to create kindness cards during lunches and handmade heart giveaways for every student. Additionally, students viewed a video to kick-off the day with information related to World Kindess and the "No Place for Hate" pledge. Mount Olive Township School District joined the "No Place for Hate" movement this school year, which is an anti-bias initiative developed by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). This movement is designed to enhance the bullying prevention and school climate improvement efforts that already take place in our district, by providing activities and resources and a platform for student-led efforts.
Message from the School Nurses
When do I keep my child home sick from school?
Dear Families,
Regular school attendance is essential for your child's academic progress and social development. Prioritizing consistent attendance helps students stay on track with learning and build strong relationships with peers and teachers.
However, we also prioritize the health of our school community. If your child is feeling unwell or has a fever, please keep them home. Following these health guidelines from the NJ Department of Health and the CDC, students should remain at home for at least 24 hours after their fever has ended without medication. This helps prevent the spread of illness and ensures your child can return to school ready to learn.
Thank you for your support in fostering both your child's education and well-being.

Hard at Work!
Principal's Message
It's been a busy two full weeks here! Our Kindergarteners took the iReady assessments and are beginning to work on the goals set up through the program. We will have our Thanksgiving Day parade on Monday. Students read Balloons over Broadway, a story about the Thanksgiving Day parade. Mrs. Olsyn and Mrs. Marvin put together a MakerSpace project where each grade level has a different piece of the parade to create, from buildings, to roads, to balloons. We will host the parade in the Library on Monday morning with our students!
Now that the rain has come back, we have been utilizing indoor recess this week. Thank you to FPTA, they purchased a lot of games and storage units for us to use during inclement weather recess. We look forward to playing and creating during recess!
Thank you to our Third Grade team, students and families for all your support of our Wounded Warrior Project donation. We are very close to raising enough money to have a veteran come in and speak to our students. Teachers and staff held a dress down day today and it should have allowed us to hit the mark! Thank you for your participation in this!
Please note, due to student behavior at our October Mountain View Moment assembly, we will not host a November one. I will reiterate this to students over the next few weeks. We will celebrate the November winners at our December assembly. Please remind your students about proper behavior when in a large group setting. Students that are disrespectful at out December assembly will be asked to leave and sit in the office by their teachers or myself. Thank you for your continued support of this program!
A quick reminder: The MOPD has been notified about parents violating parking rules on Clover Hill. Please be mindful during arrival and dismissal times. Thank you for your cooperation!
Don’t forget to look out for our third annual Pajama Drive—check your emails for details and consider donating if you can.
Wishing you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!
