CARLINE REMINDERS
Carline Reminders Before School and After School
With each day that passes we are improving our efficiency with carline as folks are picking up the system we employ. Please continue to work towards adhering to our expectations for our carline and carline will become the well-oiled machine it's intended to be.
Morning Carline
- The RIGHT LANE is for 6th Grade cars only
- The LEFT LANE is for 7th & 8th Grade cars only
- If you are 7th/8th do not block the right lane in the AM so folks can get through
- Pull all the way around when you arrive in either location so we can fit more cars in the car loop
- Drop is only ONE lane in morning drop off (nearest the sidewalk)
- Your child should Be Ready to unload upon arrival
- Everyone has some place to be in the morning. Be Patient, Be Safe and Be Kind!
- Please adhere to all signage at the entrance of school pertaining to turning and other safety matters
After School Carline
- We begin double stacking at 2:45 or after as 2:45 is when Early Dismissal ends. Please leave a lane open for Early Dismissal families until after 2:45.
- Upon entering the car loop pull all the way around to the stopping point... even if you see your child next to you. A supervisor will be at the stopping point.
- Carline numbers begin getting posted before 3:00PM
- Carline numbers are posted on our boards using SAS
- Your child MUST be watching for you. LOTS of parents are getting frustrated because the line is called to move and folks want to hold up the line waiting for their child. When it's time to go, it's time to go.
- Your child should NOT load into your vehicle until a supervisor loads them and especially NOT when cars are still moving
- When we stop loading and release cars, the whole group is to pass through.
- If your child did not load you have 2 choices: 1) Go through the carline again 2) Pull into the south parking lot, park, and walk up to get your child. Holding up carline is not an option
- We release the first wave at 3:21 and approximately every 3 minutes thereafter
- Your child's number is already posted during this time so if they are outside it means their number has been posted (Until we call All Remaining)
- We have discussed After School expectations for Being Ready, Being Respectful & Being Safe with our students over this first week. Please reinforce these expectations with your Firebird.
- 6th Grade Carline Students are brought to the front carline at 3:45PM
- Finally, be reminded that we dismiss at 3:15PM. All car riders should be picked up by 3:45PM.
- Any parent arriving at 4:00 or later will be expected to park, come to the main office, and sign your child out. Late pickup's will impact your child's ability to attend after school events as this would not meet our success criteria.
- Please adhere to all signage and SRO guidance at the entrance of school pertaining to turning and other safety matters
We appreciate your help!

Youth in Government Club (Y.I.G.) Interest and Information
Here is some club information about Youth In Government (YIG) from Ms. Steverson. YIG is a program sponsored by the YMCA and it is a nationwide program. What we do is essentially write a bill that interests us, and take it to the state's capital (Columbia) to debate it on the floor of the State House in front of other delegates from different schools in South Carolina. The trip will take place November 17-19, 2024. The cost of the trip is $280, but there are scholarships available for those who qualify.
Bills will be created by groups of no more than six (6) students. Each bill will need to be related to a problem here in South Carolina that you believe needs to have a law enacted to solve that problem. Your bill can have up to eight (8) subsections. We will assign you to either the House or the Senate in order to debate your bill on the trip. A template will be provided for writing the bill.
If you are still interested in joining YIG, please join our class in Google Classroom. The code is GLCBDTF.
We will meet on the third Thursday and Friday of each month, which means we will only meet 4 times in person to get the bills done. Only serious people need to join. Our first meeting will be Thursday, September 19th.
Thank you all for your interest, and we hope to see you at YIG!!
Dress Code Updates
Please attend to the following items pertaining to dress code at PJFMS:
1) Per district-wide dress code expectations, skirt and shorts length for all students MUST reach the students fingertips when their arms are placed at their sides. Any item that does not meet that length is considered a dress code violation. Teachers are reminding students of these expectation this week with the understanding that dress code referrals may be submitted next week.
2) Students are allowed to wear Fisher MS T-shirts with dress code bottoms on Fridays regardless of the color of the shirt
3) Students may not wear the athletics jerseys of outside of Fisher sports teams they play on for game days.
4) We have seen a great positive change with the removal of hoodies so thank you for your support!
Parent Backpack
Parents are strongly encouraged to create a Backpack account for their children. Greenville County Schools uses Backpack to provide parents with the most recent news and information about our schools. The Backpack for Parents account also provides parents, guardians, or contacts with a central place to sign in to:
- View their student's information including demographics, attendance, classes, grades, lunch balances, and test scores
- Apply or register their student to Special Focus schools and programs (Fine Arts Center, Career Centers, etc.)
- Receive alerts and notifications regarding their students
- View their student's school and contact information
- Manage parent and contact information for their students
