Message from the Principal
Dear WGIS Families,
Our WGIS learning community had a strong finish this week! Students have made it through 16 weeks so far this year and are making some great progress! Now, the time has come for our Holiday Recess and some additional time with friends and family.
I hope all of our WGIS families have a safe and enjoyable holiday season. We will be back to open the doors once again on Monday January 6, 2025! As always, thank you for your continued partnership with the school in making WGIS a great place for all students!

5th Grade Digital Literacy Classes
This past week, a representative from the McMahon Ryan Child Advocacy Center, spoke with our Digital Literacy Classes about Internet Safety and Cyber Bullying! Students were attentive and asked some fantastic questions! The speaker will be back again in the spring to present to all our 5th grade students who take Digital Literacy in the second semester! Thank you Mrs. Bates for bringing this important topic to all of our students!
WGIS PTA
Thank you PTA Volunteers!
Thank you to the PTA for providing some extra treats for our students on Friday. Students were treated to Hot Cocoa and some delicious treats. Thank you for everyone that contributed to this event!
Amazon Wishlists
Each year, we invite the teachers to submit an Amazon Wishlist that will be shared with the school community. These items are used to support and enhance instruction for our children throughout the year. The teachers and staff are so appreciative of the support. This is a way to show our gratitude for their efforts each day with our children. The links to the wishlists can be found here: https://2cde.edulnk.com/e/3z0w8/k8Kfdj?__$u__
Book Swap
The WGIS Book Swap is a PTA free book fair held in the spring where over 700 students pick out books for free. We need to collect at least 2,000 books for each child to find at least one they want to take home. Please send in gently used, age-appropriate books for us to include in the swap. Your child can drop off the books at the cart located under the main stairwell in the front entrance of the school. Thank you for your support!
Join the PTA
Lastly, the PTA would love your support! There is no commitment to participate in any meetings or events, but your $10 membership helps us ensure that we have the funds to continue the events that support our school community. You can join here: https://2cde.edulnk.com/e/3z0w8/faYJmN?__$u__
