Welcome to a New Week

Hi GIS Families!


It was a rather fantastic week at school. Kids seemed happy to be back, routines picked up right where they left off, and everyone settled in beautifully.


Many classrooms are well underway with universal testing, and I wanted to give teachers a big shoutout for their work on this crucial task. We have an incredible group of staff- I know I feel lucky to have them!


Other essential pieces of information:



  • Our partnership with SchoolStore.com opens tomorrow! See below for more information!
  • K-3 and 4-6 winter music programs are being developed. I am working to build more time for lessons that do not interrupt core instruction.
  • Kindergarten registration will open this week. I will create a page on our website with information for families needing it.
  • Please make sure band students bring their instruments in on Fridays, and Ms. Gibbons will let you know if there are additional days your child needs to have their instrument.
  • Warm weather gear is a must. Our fabulous PTA is fundraising for additional gear, but please send your child to school with what they need.

CIUUSD and The School Store

CIUUSD has partnered with School Store to help raise funds for our classrooms. These funds will help offset the cost of snacks and other needed items for our students. Your child/ren will be coming home with information tomorrow!



To access SchoolStore starting tomorrow:




Students can generate their own "code," which will allow them to earn prizes. You will get information on this tomorrow.

Important Upcoming Dates (January-March)

  • No school Monday, January 16, 2023
  • February Break 2/27 - 3/6, return on 3/7
  • End of Trimester Two, 3/17
  • No school Friday, March 24, 2023

Ski and Ride

  • The bus will be leaving around 7:45 *This is 30 minutes earlier than usual*
  • Please make sure your child has the warm-weather gear needed for the mountain.
  • Wednesday, January 11th, is our next ski and ride date.


Smuggs offered a few dates to choose from in February for our missed day on the 5th. I'll let you know ASAP what day we will be going.

Snack Donations

If you are interested in donating snacks to classrooms. Please connect with your student('s) classroom teacher(s). We're always thankful for these donations!
Our Grand Isle School Store
The PTA has worked with a vendor to provide us with a school store so that families can order Grand Isle School gear!

Lost and Found

We have a large collection of sweatshirts, pants, shirts, jackets, water bottles, and some lunch boxes. If you're coming into school for pickup or drop-off, please swing by and see if anything belongs to your kiddo!
