Showcase Week
You’ve requested- we’ve answered! After having numerous visitors from other districts come and check out our classrooms, it’s time Big Walnut teachers get to tour the district. From February 1 to February 5, we will have our first District Showcase. Each school will have a specific day in which floating subs will be provided so that teachers can visit other classrooms to gain ideas, insight, and inspiration. During this week, teachers who have graciously volunteered will open their classroom to peers from around the district. This week is devoted to connecting educators across the district and allowing to collaboration and professional learning.
Stay tuned for details regarding times, classrooms, and how to sign up.

CLARK'S CORNER
"Something Old":
PBIS/Perfect attendance brag tags- I will be handing out perfect attendance brag tags next week by coming into individual classes. Robin and I will be doing a brag tag celebration during lunches on Friday, January 22nd. Please keep a list of students who need tags and we will distribute them at that time.
Keatings Crew- We will be celebrating all of the December leaders, next Wednesday, January 13th. I will be sending info home with students on Monday to let parents know.
"Something New":
BWE news- We are now accepting jokes for the news, there are papers for your students (or teachers) to fill out a school appropriate joke in the office.
Support groups- New support groups will begin on Thursday, January 14th. New social groups will resume on Monday, January 18th. Thank you for being flexible with these, now that my case load has been lessened it will be easier for me to make up groups and most importantly be more effective. There is a new “form” to fill out if you have a student you would like to refer, click here for the link.
Upcoming PD:
Tuesday, January 7th at 7:45 @ GRE- I will be doing a coffee chat/think tank on Sumdog (if you would like to attend, let Robin or I know so we can get you coverage)
Friday, January 15th at 7:45 @ BWE- I will be doing a learning session on getting students to write using technology.
Resource of the Week: Using technology to write
Website for writing:
Letter Generator Learn the parts of a letter and then learn to write one. Great for grades 3-5.
Apps for writing: (don’t forget that if an app costs money you can submit it to robin)
Tell about this- Photo and word prompts inspire storytelling; app records the results (K-1)
Write about this- Fun pictures and prompts are great for getting kids to start writing (K-5)
