Important Dates and Upcoming Events/Due Dates
All dates you see below are on the calendar located on our website.
Each event below has a label on which group is participating.

(MB) Show Concept Reveal - Monday, March 24
- Band Room During Lunch
(MB) Leadership Training - Tuesday, March 25 - Thursday, March 27 and Tuesday, April 1
- In the band room during lunch. Band room will be closed for these trainings.
(MB) Drum Major Training - Tuesday, March 25
- 3pm-4pm in the band room
(JB1/JB2) Jazz Band Clinics at Owyhee High School - Friday, March 28
- Jazz I and II at OHS all day
- Carpooling
- Performance/Clinic times TBD
- Evening concert: Jazz I performing, Jazz II watching (optional)
- More details to come the week we come back from break.
(IP/WG) Competition at Meridian HS - Saturday, March 29
- Schedule TBA
(JB1/JB2/SB/CB) Jazz I and Symphonic Band Auditions - Monday, March 31
- Changed from the original date of 3/28
- Video auditions are due. Submit to the form for the respective ensemble you are auditioning for.
- Materials can be found on the band website
(SB/JB1/PE) Spring Music Department Tour to California - April 2-6
- Final details for this trip will be emailed out by Wednesday, March 26th.
(MB) Drum Major and Leadership Interviews - April 9 and 10
- Wednesday, April 9 - Leadership Interviews from 3pm-6pm
- Thursday, April 10 - Drum Major and Leadership Interviews from 3pm-6pm (drum major auditions will happen in class on this day)
- We will add hours as necessary depending on how many students are interviewing.
(JB1/JB2/PE) Jazz and Percussion Night - Tuesday, April 15
- Call time is 6:30pm
- Performance starts at 7:00pm
(MB/PE/IP) Fall 2025 Percussion Placements for Marching Band - April 21, 23, 30
- Students interested in playing percussion for next Fall are required to attend these placement days in order to be considered for any spot they are interested in.
- 6pm-8pm in the band room.
(MB) Marching Band Commitment Form Due - Wednesday, April 30
- Students interested in marching band for the 2025-26 school year must have this commitment form and $75 deposit submitted in order to be part of the drill design.
(Select Students) State Solo & Ensemble in Pocatello, ID - Friday, May 2 - Saturday, May 3
- Announcements on alternates will happen around the end of this month.
- Travel and hotel logistics will be released at the beginning of April.
- Our plan is to travel there on May 2nd and drive back after the event on May 3rd.

West Ada Raffle Ticket Sales
- Please consider donating to our program by purchasing a raffle ticket!
- Tickets are $50 each. If you purchase 4 tickets ($200) you will earn an additional ticket!

Boise State Concessions
- Our band boosters have been working a lot to get money to help fund ALL of our band students. Please consider volunteering for a concession date!

Fall 2025 Marching Mavericks
We are excited to get the ball rolling on next year's marching band season!
The fact sheet has been released and sent out via email.
There has been a slight modification to the fact sheet, so please check out v2 of it which can be found on www.mvhsbands.org!
Student check list for joining marching band:
- Read the Fact Sheet thoroughly and ask questions when needed!
- Complete the "2025 The Marching Mavericks Commitment Agreement" form found on our website by Wednesday, April 30th.
- Pay the $75 deposit by Wednesday, April 30th.
- Note: Students in 10th-12th grade next year, make sure to sign up for Symphonic Band. Incoming 9th graders must be signed up for Concert Band and can audition for Symphonic Band as an additional class.
Payment can be made the following ways:
- Cash in a sealed envelope with the student's name and "Marching Band Deposit" written on it.
- Check made out to MVHS Bands dropped off to Mr. Barro
- Cash or check dropped off to the bookkeeper or front office (please make sure you let them know your name and what it is for)
- MySchoolFees - public items if you are not a current MVHS student and in your student items if you are a current student.
If you are paying cash or check to the bookkeeper/front office OR on MySchoolFees you MUST send Mr. Barro your receipt!
Cut Time - Parent/Student Dashboard
This new system will help with the following items:
- Financial Information - payments made, upcoming payments, etc. (you will no longer need to email Mr. Barro to ask about it!)
- Calendar - A new calendar that you can sync up to your calendar and only shows events that are for your student specifically or the whole program.
- Announcements - Sent via text message
- Instrument/Equipment Checkout - easily accessible for students to know what instruments they have checked out.
We will continue to use the following as means for information:

- Band App (for immediate communication when at events)
- Newsletter (to communicate what is coming up)
