Liberty Leopards Show Their Spots
Last week when I was visiting elementary schools I had the distinct pleasure of watching the Liberty elementary school video announcements. Several veteran teachers provided reminders to our students and they encouraged the students with positive messages. In the classroom I was in, the students were seated on the carpet at the front of the room watching the message on the flat screen. The message clearly had their undivided attention.
They ended the announcements with a phrase I loved: “Liberty Leopards are proud of their spots!” It was a great reminder to our K-5 students. These aren’t their exact words but I think it encapsulates the message:
“I want to take a moment to remind you how special each and every one of you are. You are all unique, and that’s what makes our school such a wonderful place to be. Whether you’re great at math, love to draw, are the best at telling jokes, or are an awesome friend, these are all parts of what makes you you."
WoTown Showdown This Week!
Each year, Worthington comes together for a battle on the gridiron to support our cheer teams, bands, and football players. We aim to create a fun, family-friendly atmosphere. This year the game will be hosted at WKHS on Friday, August 30th with the kickoff at 7:00 p.m.
We recommend carpooling to the game. The WKHS parking is limited due to construction and the overflow is located at Granby Elementary and McCord Middle Schools. These lots will likely fill before kickoff.
If students are being picked up after the game the directions are included below. We are coordinating efforts with our local law enforcement to improve traffic after large events. The plan we have for Friday night home football games is as follows:
1. The entrance to the school from Hard Rd. will be closed with approximately 5 minutes left in the football game.
2. All parents wishing to pick up their children shall do it at McCord Middle School. All students will use the northeast (NE) light to cross Hard Rd. We will have staff and police there assisting with the light and crosswalk. The WKHS parking lots will be released at the NE exit/light, as they have in the past. We will use our special duty police officers to coordinate the light signals.
3. The entrance will open as soon as the parking lots and traffic on the campus have been reduced and deemed safe.
