Welcome Greenwich Elementary
Dream It, Believe It, Do It
October 2024
Dear Families,
As we enter October, we want to take a moment to highlight the importance of regular school attendance. Being in school every day is crucial for your child's academic success and overall development. Each day presents valuable opportunities for learning, social interaction, and personal growth.
Consistent attendance helps students stay engaged, build positive relationships with their peers and teachers, and develop a strong foundation for future learning. Every missed day can lead to gaps in knowledge and understanding, making it harder to keep up with lessons.
We understand that some days may present challenges, but we encourage you to prioritize attendance whenever possible. If your child is facing difficulties, please reach out so we can work together to find solutions.
Thank you for your ongoing support in fostering a positive learning environment for all our students!
For more information on the importance of school attendance and strategies to support your child's success, please visit [Attendance Works](https://www.attendanceworks.org).
Wishing you a wonderful October!

Hudson Headwaters Healthy Smiles Program
Healthy Smiles Dental Program
On October 8, we are excited to welcome the Hudson Headwaters Health Network to our elementary school for a 10-minute dental presentation. This is in preparation for the Healthy Smiles Dental Program, which brings preventative dental services and education directly to our students at Greenwich Elementary School.
This preventative dental program includes services such as:
- Screening
- Dental cleaning
- Fluoride treatment
- Dental sealants
- Education on dental hygiene
- Referral for additional treatment if necessary
Parents and guardians will receive a consent packet in late February with all the details about the program, along with a consent form. If you choose to enroll your child, they will receive care from a NYS Licensed Dental Hygienist who will promote healthy teeth and gums. After completing the care, each child will receive an Oral Health Report Form detailing the services provided.
We are excited to offer this opportunity and encourage families to take advantage of this great program.

October's Character Trait: Responsibility
As we move into October, our focus will be on the character trait of Responsibility. This month, we’ll be exploring what it means to be responsible and how we can embody this important value in our daily lives.
Responsibility is about being dependable and carrying out our obligations with a sense of duty. It involves taking ownership of our thoughts, words, and actions. Responsible individuals are accountable for the consequences of their choices, and they understand the importance of not blaming others for their mistakes.
We encourage you to engage with your children on this topic at home. Here are some questions you might consider discussing together:
What does it mean to be responsible in your daily life?
Can you think of a time when you took responsibility for something you did?
How can you show responsibility in your schoolwork and at home?
By fostering a sense of responsibility in our children, we help them grow into accountable and dependable individuals. Thank you for your continued support as we encourage these important values together!
