This newsletter is a weekly publication available every Wednesday to our Kilgour community. If you have information to share with our school community, including upcoming events and activities please email details to RC1 by 4pm on Mondays.

As I put together the final edition of the 2023-24 school year I want to sent a deep and sincere THANK YOU! This newsletter was an attempt to centralize and unify the communication throughout the Kilgour community. I was hopeful but unsure if anyone would read it. Turns out many of you read it, suggested to others to read it and found value in it. I appreciate every email, comment and acknowledgement and look forward to keeping the community connected next school year.

The Kilgour Main office will close for the Summer on Friday 6/28 at 2pm. The main office will reopen for the 2024-25 school year on August 1st at 9am. If assistance is needed during the closure, please contact our CPS Customer Care Center at 513.363.0123 or CPSHelp@cpsboe.k12.oh.us. The Customer Care Center accepts calls from 8:15am - 4:30pm during normal operating days.

Champions Summer Camp will continue through the Summer! Contact 513.429.6140 for additional information or questions.

Power School will become a 'Read Only' application very soon. This means that Principal Cook-Frazier and the office staff will no longer be able to send messages via Power School. Make sure you're in the know and don't miss important updates during the transition by joining the REMIND grade level groups. THESE ARE THE SAME GROUPS FROM THE START OF THE SCHOOL YEAR. IF YOU'RE ALREADY IN ONE THERE'S NO NEED TO REJOIN.

New grade level groups will be provided at the start of the school year!

Our 2024-25 Back to School kickoff events will take place on Monday August 12th and include:

• 2pm - 2024-25 Kindergarten PARENT ONLY Overview (In Kindergarten classrooms)
• 3pm - New to Kilgour families with students in Grades 1st-6th Overview
• 4:30pm-6:30pm - Back to School Social - An opportunity to come together as a school community to kickoff the new school year. Meet & Greet Teachers and staff; Drop of School supplies; Join PTA, Sports Boosters, Learn about LSDMC, Kilgour Foundation, Champions Before & After Care program as well as our various partners!

Calling all parents and caregivers! Do you have ideas, energy and insight to help Kilgour be the very best it can be? Our Local School Decision Making Committee (LSDMC) needs YOU!

LSDMC is the governing board of parents, teachers, staff and community members which helps shape the educational and extracurricular experience of Kilgour School. We are seeking two Parent Representatives!

One parent rep will serve a standard two-year term (2024-2026). One parent rep will serve one year (2024-2025) of a two-year term that was already initiated by a board member who is moving out-of-state. Parent reps attend twice monthly meetings during the school year and help shape and execute the school's strategic plan.

To apply, please be on the lookout for a candidate application that will be made available to the public on Monday, August 5. At that time, if you are interested in running you will have until Friday, August 16 to complete the candidate application. Portions of all candidates' applications will be shared with the Kilgour community in advance of the voting window (Monday, August 19 through Friday, August 23). Similar to last year, and in an effort to expand access, voting will be done electronically using Google Forms.

The Kilgour School Parent Teacher Association is a local chapter of the Ohio PTA, a branch of the National PTA.

It is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, made up families, teachers, staff, and administrators who work together for the success of all children and families.

Our PTA works hard to plan, organize and raise funds in support of a variety of school needs/wants including:

ABOUT KILGOUR SPORTS BOOSTERS

Kilgour Sports Boosters is a non-profit parent organization dedicated to providing opportunities for all Kilgour students to participate in athletics. The Kilgour Sports Boosters board supervises school sports and sporting events, as well as fundraising activities to better support player participation and scholarships, parent coaches, teams and sports facilities, uniforms and equipment.

OUR GOALS

• Give every child the opportunity to participate in sports;
• Reinforce good sportsmanship in a positive team environment;
• Help coaches teach the fundamentals of their sport;
• Uphold the recreational status of the sport, including equitable playing time

KSB is actively seeking soccer coordinator volunteers. Sarah and Justin are still looking for a couple volunteers to take over the Kilgour soccer program. After the Spring 2025 season there is a possibility that the soccer program will not exist if we can’t get volunteers. Volleyball is offered for grades 3rd through 6th. Girls will have teams formed for each grade level. Boys will have a 3rd/4th combined team and a 5th/6th combined team. If there are not enough boys to form a 3rd/4th grade team, 4th grade boys will be able to play up on the 5th/6th grade team.

Volleyball is played with the CPYVL league and is a 10 game season that runs for 6 weeks beginning at the end of August (no games on Labor Day weekend) with a postseason tournament mid October. Teams will practice 2 nights/week in the Kilgour gym with 1 or 2 games each weekend at various locations.

Please be aware that, KSB cannot guarantee that practices and games for soccer and volleyball will not overlap. We have to take into account the volunteer coaches' availability and gym or facility availability first and foremost. Games are scheduled by both leagues and similarly, there is potential for overlap. We ask that you consider this prior to registering your child for fall sports. We rely on your child's participation when forming teams for the respective leagues.

Our Cincinnati Public Library Summer Reading Program is from June 1 – July 30, 2024, this summer. Along with fun activities for all youth, youth will be encouraged to read for at least 20 minutes a day all summer. Camp Erickson: Introduction to Irish Dance Summer Camps
