Discovery Update
May 1, 2021
A Message From The Principal
As we move into Spring, please know I am here and will be fully engaged in through June. It is important to us that Discovery is a fun place to learn and grow. This month we have planned several special events for students and families. In addition we are excited that our new big toy is finally being installed. We can't wait until it is in and the inspection is complete so we can play on it. Please see more information below regarding current happenings and events to come.
Have a wonderful month of May!!!

Bonita Seymour Plans To Retire
Discovery Primary School has been my second home for the past eight years. That home was complete with a wonderful family: teachers, administrators, staff, families and first grade students. It has been a wonderful place to reside! I have had so many opportunities to grow professionally and personally. I've had the privilege of guiding learning for so many little ones, and have worked with the best of the best educational leaders. I'm sure that I'll miss these days yet I look forward to more time with my family - and yet-to-be scheduled fun! Thank you, Discovery!
From my grateful heart, I wish each one of you much success, laced with genuine joy and fulfillment.
A Note From Sharon Blaylock As She Plans for Retirement
I began teaching 39 years ago after working at four other school districts I completed my career with 22 years right here at Discovery Primary. The bulk of my career has been working with special education preschool children, I have spent a few years as a kindergarten teacher and a few with older special education students. Like so many teachers what I love most about teaching is seeing that a-ha moment that spark when a child realizes they understand something. My plans for the future? To make the house I just bought into my home, subbing when I can, and spending time in my garden.
Class Placement Input
We do not accept requests for specific teachers. At this time we have not determined staffing or enrollment for next school year. However we do welcome input regarding things you would like us to consider when making placement decisions.
You will get a letter during the first week or two of August introducing the teacher to you and letting you know of school events.
