Watt'z Up Wednesday!
Episode 1: From Students To Energy Heroes!
Watt'z Up Wednesday!
Energy Superheroes
This week, let’s make energy conservation a team effort by creating a classroom energy-saving team! This simple activity gets your students engaged in monitoring and managing energy use in the classroom.
Your students will feel empowered knowing they’re making a difference—and it’s a habit that can stick for a lifetime!
Step-by-Step:
- Introduce the concept: Explain to your students that energy conservation is something everyone can contribute to. Divide them into small groups responsible for different tasks.
- Set roles: Assign roles like "Light Monitor," "Electronics Monitor," and "Temperature Controller" to ensure that every part of energy use in the classroom is being tracked.
- Daily checks: Have each team check energy use throughout the day, turning off unnecessary lights, adjusting temperatures, and ensuring devices are off when not in use.
- Reflect: At the end of the week, discuss what was saved and how it impacted the classroom's energy consumption.
Did you Know?
💡💡💡 Did you know that turning off classroom lights when not in use can reduce electricity use by up to 15%? When combined with managing other electronics, the savings can add up quickly!
