Art Show Volunteers
The Elementary Art Show is fast approaching and we are in need of volunteers! The show will take place on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at the High School immediately before the 5th and 6th Grade Band and Choral concert. If you have your volunteer clearances and are interested in helping out, please complete the Google form for the volunteer sign-up using the link below. Help will be needed before the show to prepare the artwork, as well as on the evening of the show for setup and teardown.
THANK YOU! – Mrs. Medeiros
Sixth-Grade Probability Fair Photos
On April 2nd, pre-service teachers from LVC will be coming to AE to lead our sixth-grade students through a number of lessons and activities surrounding probability. During this time, a photographer from the college will be in attendance to take pictures of these future teachers in action. If you would prefer that your child isn't photographed as part of this event, please reach out to your child's homeroom teacher and Mrs. Hoover. Thank you!
250th Anniversary Celebration in Cleona
The 250th anniversary of the United States is July 4, 2026. Cleona Borough has formed a committee to plan activities to celebrate this important milestone. So far, this list includes a community-wide picnic, a patriotic house decoration contest, and a pet parade. We are looking for volunteers to help us identify other fun family activities. Volunteers don’t have to live in Cleona, but they must be willing to attend our monthly meetings and bring new ideas to discuss. If you want to help plan a fun celebration, please get in touch with Jonathan Johnson, Borough Manager. The next meeting is on March 31st at 7:00 p.m. at Cleona Borough Hall.

School Spotlight
Secret Agent Jason Swan visited AE to talk about online safety this week. Students and staff left with many tips and ideas on how to ensure our kids are safe while on their devices.
Thank you to our families who came out to support our book fair this week. Special thanks to the Dutchmen Education Foundation, which funded a grant to make sure all of our students were able to purchase a book! As you can see, there were many happy faces, excited to dig into some reading this weekend!
Students in all grade levels are preparing to answer text-dependent analysis prompts and text-dependent questions in their ELA classes. On the left, Mrs. Shaak's fifth-grade writing class shows that they can deconstruct the prompt and find what they need to include in a written response. On the right, Mrs. Popejoy's third-grade class finds evidence in their reading to support an answer.
Our teachers have been reading and practicing activities from Jonathan Alsheimer's book "School of Engagement." These activities have been opportunities for all to have fun, build connections, and be involved in the learning happening in the classroom.
Third-grade classrooms celebrated Ag Literacy Week with high school students visiting and sharing texts!
AE Career Day
Career Day was held this week! We had a variety of presenters come in to share about their careers, engage students in activities, and tell about how their education helped to pave the way for these positions. Students (and staff) learned so much from each of our guests! We are so grateful for their participation!
