Avon East Monthly News
May 2024
Hi East Families!
Wow~ How is it the end of the school year?! We can't thank you enough for your unconditional support. The best part of Avon East is feeling like a giant family- which makes these summer "goodbyes" so hard!
For our second grade families, we wish you the best as you move to Heritage. Our hope is you have fond memories of your time here with us and will always have a piece of East in your heart. We know you'll have a wonderful experience for the next three years! First grade families, we hope you are eager to return to our East family in August for one final year together.
June will be eerily quiet in the building without little eagle voices and we'll miss every minute of not seeing students each day. May your summer be filled with memories, laughter, and lots of fun! Enjoy your time together!
We want to thank you in advance for all your donations, time, support and love for our staff, our students, and all our upcoming events in May. We couldn't do this without you!
It has been our absolute pleasure to be your child's Principals this year!
With gratitude,
Ms. Erin Holzhauer, Principal
Mrs. Michelle Szczepanski, Assistant Principal

Important Information for our bus riders on the last day of school!
Avon East has a long-standing tradition where we hold ALL buses on the last day until every student has been loaded. Then, our entire staff lines Nagel Road to wave goodbye to the beeping school buses as students wave back to us from their windows. It's a tradition that we absolutely cherish and hope to continue doing for years to come.
Due to holding buses, we want to prepare you that students will be late on this day getting home. We expect all buses to depart East around 3:50pm.
If you do not want to wait for your child on the bus, you're welcome to send in a note for car rider instead!
Thank you Transportation!
Thank you, staff!!!
We will be celebrating our INCREDIBLE staff the week of May 6th-10th!
Thank you to all of you who go out of your way to thank our staff! They are most deserving of all the love :) A special thank you to our Booster's and parent volunteers for planning such a fun-filled week for our staff! It is much deserved!
Summer Office Hours
Our East office will be open 9-2 through June 21st and again starting August 1st. Our summer staff works throughout the building so please leave a message if your call is not answered and we will get back to you.

Important forms for moving
Please use this link to access important forms for any moves you may make over the summer- change of address or release of records/withdrawal. Please call our office with any questions and we will help guide you if you are moving out of Avon. Completing these forms helps us make sure that your new school receives all information they need before the school year starts!
PBIS & Behavior
Students will shop on the SOAR Cart for the final time this month. Remember, Eagle Bucks do not roll over to the following school year.
With the end of the school year excitement, unexpected behaviors tend to creep up. In an effort to end the year strong, we appreciate your support at home! Reviewing school rules with your child, adhering to normal bedtime and morning routines, and reinforcing behavior expectations are all great ways to influence your little eagle! We are eager to make lifelong memories in the next few weeks while also maintaining high expectations for behavior, safety, and learning.

Something Special News!
Preparation for Next School Year
Principals K-5 do not accept requests for specific teachers. However, we take such great pride in placing students in collaboration with the other building principals, the current classroom teacher, and the school counselor and school psychologist. It is a very time consuming process and we truly look at each individual child when considering placement for the next grade level. While we do not always get this perfect, we do try our best to place students in the most optimal learning environment with the information we have.
We welcome communication about certain factors we should be aware of in regards to your child, but discourage individual requests.
We appreciate your trust in our team with this very important process that we value so much.
