Student Mass Reflections For Wednesday, September 11th
In today’s Gospel, the message was clear; the opinions of others about us are not as important as how we are viewed in the eyes of God. It emphasized that the judgments of others do not determine our status, but by the way we are seen by God. We also learned that it doesn’t matter if you are rich or poor because Jesus will always love you.
Kess, grade 7
In today’s Mass, Father Raju spoke to us about what our goals should be as Christians. In the readings, we heard that we should stay focused on our faith instead of earthly success. Even if we had all of the riches in the world, none of it would mean anything to God. Our lives on Earth are nothing but a test of our faith, and a chance to help others. We were all made equal, and we will all leave the earth the same way, no matter our money, appearance, popularity, or anything that humans would consider “important”. The only ideas setting us apart from others is our positive impact on the world and our relationship with God.
Elena, grade 7

This Sunday's Gospel from Mark 8:27-35
for the villages of Caesarea Philippi.
Along the way he asked his disciples,
"Who do people say that I am?"
They said in reply,
"John the Baptist, others Elijah,
still others one of the prophets."
And he asked them,
"But who do you say that I am?"
Peter said to him in reply,
"You are the Christ."
Then he warned them not to tell anyone about him.
He began to teach them
that the Son of Man must suffer greatly
and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes,
and be killed, and rise after three days.
He spoke this openly.
Then Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.
At this he turned around and, looking at his disciples,
rebuked Peter and said, "Get behind me, Satan.
You are thinking not as God does, but as human beings do."
He summoned the crowd with his disciples and said to them,
"Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself,
take up his cross, and follow me.
For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it,
but whoever loses his life for my sake
and that of the gospel will save it."
