We’ve had another amazing week at Berkmar Middle School! Be sure to talk with your student about their classroom activities and the exciting opportunities to get involved at school. Students will take a survey this week during Advisement to select a club to participate in during our monthly Patriot Pride Time.

This is also a great time to check in with your student about their grades. You can use ParentVue or have your student show you their current grades on their Chromebook. Tutoring is available every Wednesday at 8:20 a.m. and Thursday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Please don't hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions or need to schedule a conference.

Annual AKS Public Review

Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) invites GCPS families, Gwinnett County residents, students, and GCPS staff members to participate in the school district’s review of the Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) curriculum Sept. 3 through Sept. 26. The public may review proposed standards online, offering feedback on AKS that have been developed to align the curriculum with the Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE) and/or Georgia Performance Standards (GPS). • Do you know when and where your child can go to get additional instructional support?

• Do you know how to become a volunteer in our school?

If you answered no to any of these questions, please make an Appointment with Pilar Silva, our Parent Instructional Coordinator, in the BMS Parent Center.

Engage, Equip, and Empower

Elementary Content Area Spotlight on Thursday, September 26th: presented by Julie Erdmann, Elementary ELA Director, Michelle Bellamy, Elementary Math Director, Dr. Jeremy Nix, Elementary Social Studies Director, and Kristin Luthi, Elementary Science Director all from the Department of Teaching and Learning virtually from 5:30 pm until 6:30 pm.

During this session, GCPS families of students in grades K-5 will receive information on how to support students at home with ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies in the first semester
