Village Explorer Weekly Newsletter
Week of January 29th
Notes from Principal Peter Kuhns
Village Explorer Student and Families,
I appreciate all of our patience and understanding as our team navigates the flooding that occurred on our campus on Monday. The remediation crews have been actively working all weekend to remove any remaining moisture from the carpets and floors as well as reinstalling the drywall that needed to be removed. The safety of our staff and students continues to be the top priority as the district continues to evaluate the condition of each affected area daily. Our Kindergarten and TK classrooms should become available sometime this week. In addition, our VAPA and iLab instruction will continue to be your student's homeroom until we have each class back in their space. We will keep in constant communication with you if your child's learning space continues to be affected, and the anticipated timeline of return. Please read the newsletter closely as it has important updates and information for the week ahead.

Safe Harbor Coronado Update
Military Corner from Mindy Hayes
Hi Military Families
Recently, I have received a number of inquiries regarding summer camp options. There are numerous summer camp programs available in San Diego County. I suggest making a list of the important factors to your family when choosing a camp; distance from home/work, hours of operation, size of the program, options offered, cost, staff/child ratio, accreditation/staff training. Then look to your local base Child & Youth Programs, City Recreation Department, YMCA, Boys & Girls Club, as well as organizations associated with your child’s school to see what they have planned for the summer. Plus, other parents and teachers are also great sources of information. Here too are a couple websites packed with possibilities:

Best of luck in your summer camp search!
