For this week's Educator of the Week recognition, we have selected Mrs. Pamela Roberts. Mrs. Roberts is a dynamic and caring Reading Specialist at the GWS. She started working as a Reading Specialist in 2014 and has made a huge impact on hundreds of GWS students.

Principal Hubbard summed it up best, when she noted that, "Mrs. Pamela Roberts is an outstanding educator and the anchor of literacy at Governor Winslow School. She is a quiet leader who models excellence and shows others the qualities that are necessary for success both in and out of the classroom. Pam believes every child can learn to read, comprehend, and write well, and she works tirelessly to find the way by which a child learns."

She went on to add that, "Mrs. Roberts supports teachers as best she can, and she serves as a mentor for our new reading specialist. Pam is a valued member of our Student Support Team, our Grade Level Collaboration Team, and our Student Placement Committee. She spearheads Read Across America Week, and has painted murals after school hours that display students' work in literacy. Most notably, future bakers love participating in her After-School Enrichment Course, Cupcake and Cookie Decorating, where Mrs. Roberts and her students create mouthwatering masterpieces. GWS is grateful for Mrs. Roberts!"

I was joined today at the EWS by the School Committee Vice-Chair, Ms. Lara Brait, as we got to meet with the school's Principal and Assistant Principal for the day. Emily Hoffman (Principal) and Summit Stevenson (Assistant Principal) were selected for these roles and they had quite a busy itinerary for the day. They were able to share with us all of the great things they did today over lunch.

Congratulations to MHS Senior, Soomin Jeong, who was sworn in to Govenor Healey’s newly established Governor’s Youth Council which advises the Governor and Lt. Governor on issues relative to civic engagement, the environment, education, housing, and youth violence.

Soomin does so much for the MHS community and this appointment is greatly deserved. Great job Soomin!! #WeRMarshfield

On Monday, March 18th, the Marshfield High School Choirs combined for their 10th annual National Anthem performance at a Boston Celtics game! Our choirs sang for a sold out crowd at the TD Garden of over 19,000! What an amazing experience for our young performers...Congratulations to MHS Choirs!

Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Martin, joined me on our visit to the GWS today. At that time, we were able to partake in the traditional "Bunny Hop Dance" with students in Mrs. Jacobucci's 2nd grade class. We were also joined by Principal Hubbard. We all had a great time.

Due to school being cancelled on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, the new final day of school is Thursday, June 13, 2024.
