Adair’s Jacob Perryman – FFA Spotlight – Presented By Oklahoma AgCredit
A member of FFA since the eighth grade, Adair High School’s Jacob Perryman is preparing for the final few weeks of his high school experience. The longtime FFA member has enjoyed many things about the FFA over the years and the friends he has made along the way. “I got involved because I love animals and I love the culture of FFA. Adair FFA is known for its involvement numerous activities, and I knew I wanted to be a part of that,” said Perryman. “I have been involved with cattle grading, Agriculture Economics, Animal Science Quiz Bowl, and Welding.” Participating in so many activities has allowed Perryman to meet new people and network within the FFA program. “What I loved the most is having the opportunity to be involved with different competitive teams. Also, I have enjoyed the friendships that have developed,” said Perryman.
Also a swimmer for Adair High School, Perryman has spent time in other clubs around campus including FCCLA. “I was involved with FCCLA my freshman and sophomore year and have just done FFA and swim team my junior and senior year,” said Perryman, As a member of the swim team, Perryman said the support his teammate and other swimmers gave him made all the hard work worth the effort. The swim team at Adair is a two-person team. “Swimming has been a great sport to allow me to showcase my talent. It is a very individualized sport, so I get a lot of support from other swimmers. My other teammate is a girl so we are never competing against each other and can cheer each other on. Perryman said everyone should consider FFA if they are looking to get involved in an activity at school. “I would tell them to absolutely go for it. It is a great way to grow as a person and do
something that may be out of your comfort zone with a lot of good support,” said Perryman.
The senior is looking forward to the fall when he will leave Adair for Stillwater and enroll at Oklahoma State University in the Animal Science/Pre-Vet and then go in the Veterinary school.
Perryman said he has his parents to thank for helping him reach his goals.
“My biggest supporters are my mom and dad. They have always supported me and helped me fulfill my dreams. They have always provided me with whatever I needed and taught me to never give up,” said Perryman.
