The first day of school is an opportunity to practice patience and kindness. Getting 500 students in the building with families is going to take time. There will be no tardies for the first few days of school so please practice getting routines going to help with when the 7:30am start is a hard deadline! :). We know that the first day of school that families often like to walk their child to class. Capturing those moments are important so we've made sure there are photo opportunities at Open House!

• On the morning of the first day ONLY, families may opt to park in the visitor parking lot (BLUE LOT)
• All adults MUST come in through the FRONT door!

We encourage famlies to follow their "typical" arrival and dismissal on the first day if possible. Children often do what they remember so following a consistent routine helps! Car lanes, buses, and child care will run! We look forward to a great start!

Children are excited to come to school, and Hisle opens at 7:10am. We ask that families do NOT drop children off prior to 7:10am due to NO ADULT supervision. There is no parking on campus during this time to ensure that staff are able to park and be available to support children. We encourage families to use the same dismissal area for arrival.

CAR LINES

• Remember: we have a ONE WAY LOOP from 7:00-7:30am and 2:30-3:00pm
• All cars should enter after passing the campus on your right on Adaptable Lane.
• Have your child READY to exit the car.
• Backpack on, seat or booster unbuckled, and path clear of items. Remove trash, bags, or anything in the floorboards!
• Remind your child(ren) to stay in the vehicle until it comes to a complete stop before your child opens the door to exit your vehicle.

WALKERS/BIKE RIDERS

• All walkers and bike riders should enter the campus through the front door only
• Bike riders should lock their bike at the bike rack.
• Please make sure to utilize the crosswalk by San Gabriel Drive

BUS RIDERS AND CHILD CARE

• Bus Riders and Child Care Vans will enter through the MPR doors.

We're excited to use an online system to track how each child leaves the campus. You will receive an email to set up your account once the campus goes "live". THIS SHOULD HAPPEN BY MONDAY, AUGUST 12th!

The email will contain

• Instructions on how to login with a user name and temporary password.
• You will read through the dismissal areas to choose your child's dismissal each day.
• Remember, if you drive a car to pick up your child, please choose the appropriate car lane.
• We will have a "booth" to pick up a RED or GREEN Card to display in your window the first day of school.

LOOK FOR AN EMAIL BY MONDAY, AUGUST 12th! We will send a remind once we are LIVE!

• We will utilize two car lanes!
  

• Keep your RED/GREEN card in your car (even if you are not a car rider)

• Each child will have a "colored" bracelet to attach to the top loop of their backpack. Early Childhood-1st grade will have a plastic ID tag too!

• If you drive a car to the campus and park, your family is a car rider this year. There is no PARKING at Hisle Elementary during arrival and dismissal times.

• There will be NO supervision for walkers after Hisle staff walk students to the flagpoles at the front of the campus.

• During the year, if dismissal needs to change, family members can make changes directly in the app by 1:30 pm

• Classroom teachers are unable to take any dismissal changes

• At dismissal, this group will leave the building first.
• Staff members will take role as each child gets on the bus
• Only students that may ride a bus are those that live within the appropriate bus routes.
• SMART TAG is another website to manage your child's ride.
• Families will continue to use their smart-tag with information about address and bus stop location. If your child has a SMART TAG, attach to their backpack. If your child does NOT have a SMART TAG, it should arrive on campus sometime in September

RED Car Rider (1st-5th): Located on TWO story side of building

GREEN Car Rider (PreK-5th): Located on ONE story side of building

STUDENTS SHOULD LOAD IN BACK SEAT

• Children will remain in their classroom until it's their turn to load.
• Families should have their RED or GREEN card DISPLAYED AND EASY TO SEE IN PASSANGER WINDOW
• We ask that families remain in the vehicles
• Pull your vehicle to the first open spot in the lane and we will send your child to your vehicle.
  
• Please remain alert and OFF your cell phone!

• Children will line up and be escorted to cafeteria
• YMCA will remain in the cafeteria
• All other child care centers will meet their children in the back drive
• Prior to leaving, staff take role to verify occupants

• All walkers will exit the building through the front door.

• If you drive a car to the campus and park, your family is a car rider this year. There is no parking at Hisle or on the street during arrival and dismissal times
  

• This group will leave the building last to allow for traffic to clear

• Children who are walking or riding their bike home will enter and exit the front door of our campus only.

• Children will walk home independently. Staff will walk students to the flagpole and wave goodbye.

• THERE IS NO ATTENDANCE/CHECKOFF with this DISMISSAL
