Bridge Builders!
We're thrilled to introduce Bridge Builders, a new Student Leadership Committee at CMC! This dynamic group comprises 40 students from all grade levels and programs, guided by four advisors: Amy, Elaine, Lindsay, and Victor. Bridge Builders provides students with structured opportunities to develop essential leadership skills, connect with peers and build strong relationships, contribute meaningfully to the CMC community, and gain valuable volunteer experience for future career and educational pursuits.
In early February, all CMC students were invited to apply. Successful applicants participated in two training sessions covering the importance of leadership skills and soft skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, communication, critical thinking, time management, and interpersonal relationships. Students also learned practical application of these skills through team-based hypothetical scenarios, as well as expectations for behavior and personal conduct as leaders within the school community. They each created and learned to use a personal log for tracking leadership activities.
Bridge Builders will coordinate and lead a wide range of activities at CMC, including new student orientation and experience day, school dances and the CMC graduation ceremony, clothing and canned food drives, bulletin board setups and teardowns, library maintenance, school outings and spirit week, symposium support, student tutoring and mentoring, school clean-up and beautification projects, and peer-tutoring and peer-mentoring.
Bridge Builders are required to complete 5 leadership hours per trimester. They serve as leaders in their classes and representatives of CMC within the community. Advisors will track and approve all logged hours to maintain member standing. Applications for next year's Bridge Builders will be available at the end of the Spring trimester.
