December Student of the Month

Congratulations to our December students of the month. These students are selected by the faculty for consistently following school expectations of being Respectful, Accountable, Prepared and Safe.

Classroom Chronicles

Chickens!

Students in Mr. Haussner’s and Mrs. Smith’s ELA classes went to the library today to read “An Egyptian Cinderella” and “Cinders: A Chicken Cinderella” during their mini-unit on high-level picture books. Mr. Haussner brought in his hens and a rooster to accompany the story. With great comedic timing from our rooster, classes had a great time.

Sun Tech Field trip

On December 13, 2024 the 8th grade students and teachers went on an educational field trip to Sun Tech. Before attending, students selected two program choices of interest, and a third program was selected for them. While there they got to complete projects that aligned with their program choices. Some choices include cosmetology, dental, culinary arts, precision metal, HVAC and many more!

Fun Night!

On December 6th, DHEMS student council held a fun night. There were many fun activities for students including 7th and 8th grade 4x4 hoops, a 6th grade knockout tournament, and DJs playing music in the cafeteria. A highlight of the evening was group dancing in the cafeteria. There were a variety of delicious snacks and drinks including a new hot chocolate option. Thank you to student council members, Mr. Cicoria, and Mr Lepovetsky for organizing this event.

Why did you decide to teach math?

“I taught English before, and I always did like math.”

“When kids really understand the concept”

“I like to go hiking, and I like reading”


What would be your dream meal?

“Anything seafood”


Did you do any sports in school

“Yeah, cross country and track”
