Principal's Message From Dr. Otway
As we embark on our journey to empower student leadership this year, your role as parents is crucial to our success. Your engagement and support will help us shape the leaders of tomorrow.
One of the ways we are fostering this leadership is through the implementation of school uniforms. Ensuring that your child is in uniform and arrives at school every day on time is an essential part of your leadership as a parent. By doing this, you empower your child to fully engage in their education, remain in school all day, and return home safely at regular dismissal.
We understand that every family has unique needs, and we are here to support you. Our health clinic is available for regular check-ups and to help manage chronic illnesses. We also offer food and housing support to assist families in need. But to access these resources and maximize your child’s potential, we need your children here, on time, every day.
This past weekend, we saw a powerful example of our journey toward empowering student leadership taking flight. The House of Altruismo, true to their spirit of giving, stepped up when we received the challenge to join the Ron Clark Academy's "Clean The Streets" initiative. Though we were only three weeks into the school year, our House Sponsors, Ms. Melanie and Ms. White, embraced the challenge with their enthusiasm, our parents and students became excited and ensured our leaders participated in the clean up and ready to host one for our school community.

Thank you for your continued partnership in empowering our students. Together, we are creating a legacy of leadership that will last a lifetime.
Warm regards,
Dr. Maisha N. Otway
Principal, College Park Elementary School

Talented & Gifted TAG Program Overview
Our TAG program, part of the Fulton County School System, is designed to provide enriching experiences for our intellectually advanced and exceptionally creative students, from kindergarten through grade 12. This program is available at all Fulton County schools and aims to challenge and inspire those with exceptional abilities.
How are students evaluated for TAG?
For any child referred for TAG testing, Fulton County Schools evaluates several key areas: Mental Ability, Creativity, Achievement, and Motivation. The evaluation tools used are in line with the Georgia Board of Education guidelines.
What tests are used?
The TAG Advocacy Council at each local school decides which tests are most appropriate based on the child’s grade level, past testing, and current classroom performance. It’s important to note that each test is administered only once every two years.
We’re excited to support our students in reaching their full potential through the TAG program!

Empowering a Legacy of Leadership
Learning the 7 habits of highly successful kids is part of our leadership journey at Princeton's Leadership Academy @College Park Elementary. This exercise helps students understand how shifting their perspectives can positively impact their learning and personal growth.
Paradigms
In Ms. Battle's second-grade class, students are delving into the concept of paradigms as part of their “Leader in Me” module. They discuss their own beliefs and attitudes about themselves in relation to school, evaluating whether these perspectives are helpful or hurtful. If they identify any unhelpful paradigms, they brainstorm ways to change them.
7 Habits
In Ms. Braswell's class, students explored the "Leader in Me" habits to find the one that best aligns with a growth mindset. After a lively discussion, they chose Habit #7 "Sharpening the Saw" as the habit that most embodies ongoing self-improvement and resilience. Pictured are student leaders participating in a turn & talk.

Learning
Captures
In Ms. Wilbourne’s art class, kindergarten scholars created a colorful diagram featuring primary colors—red, blue, and yellow. Instead of mixing the colors, the students applied each color in separate layers on their diagrams. They placed one color in a layer, then added another color in a different layer, keeping the colors distinct. This approach helped them visualize and understand how each primary color stands out on its own and how they can be arranged to create vibrant, layered effects.
