Coming Up This Week At Woodside
This is our last full week of school for this year! We will be wrapping up all the CAASPP make-ups. Some classes will be administering a Spring iReady Diagnostic in order to show a true picture of growth for the year! We are celebrating our prototypes, especially enjoying harvesting herbs, fruits, and vegetables grown in our new outdoor learning and garden space.
Remember next Monday, May 27th is Memorial Day (no school).

Highlights of Last Week
Middle School Career Assembly
Seventh and Eighth Grade students had a Career Exploration assembly, brought to us from Junior Achievement. During the assembly, the students listened to background stories and highlights of careers and inspirations from the following:
Jane Taff - Citrus Heights City Council Member
Jacqueline Samsan - Senior Engineer at The Better Meat Company: a business-to-business startup company utilizing the power of fermentation to create alternative protein ingredients that are both nutritious and sustainable.
Johnna Phillips - Corporate Communications at SMUD: A community-owned, not-for-profit electric service provider. SMUD has been providing low-cost, reliable electricity to Sacramento County for more than 75 years.
From the PTO
As the school year is winding down, we have one last volunteer opportunity on campus. Field Day is scheduled for Monday, June 3rd from 8:15-10:40am. We would love to offer a couple Water Stations and possibly help out with set-up. If you are willing to volunteer during this time, please reach out to the PTO at woodsidekto8pto@gmail.com.

FACE Learning Opportunities
May Family Education Events
The Mind-Body Wellness virtual workshop is on Monday, May 20 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. The workshop is presented in collaboration with Kaiser Permanente and will cover topics such as understanding the mind-body connection and strategies to manage daily stress to feel better mentally and physically.

Citrus Heights Metro Fire Camp
FIRE CAMP is an excellent opportunity for our firefighters to help 11, 12 and 13-year-old kids build a sense of teamwork and responsibility while learning what it’s like to be a firefighter for Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District. FIRE CAMP will be held on June 25-28 and occurs at Fire Station 21, 7641 Greenback Lane, Citrus Heights, 95610. Cost is $125 and campers will rely on a parent or guardian for daily transportation.
Please note, Parent Orientation on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at 7 PM is mandatory.

Summer School Applications
Incoming students from Kindergarten - 5th grade are invited to participate in District Summer School opportunities. There are two intervention programs being offered: K-1 Boost and Camp Invention. These will be happening at the following campuses: Kingswood, Charles Peck, Cowan, Grand Oaks, and Ottoman. Dates and Times for Summer School are June 7th-July 12th, 8:30-12:30 (no school June 19th & July 4th).
If you are interested, please fill out a Summer School Application and return it to our office.
Sacramento Pride March
We will be marching as a San Juan Unified community on Sunday, June 9th.
If you are interested in walking in the parade with our San Juan Unified community, please click the button below to RSVP. We will be providing a bus for any students who need transportation.
