Today marks the beginning of Advent, with the lighting of the Hope candle. We join together and share our hope for the coming Messiah. May this season of Advent be wonderful for you and your family.

PTO - Pictures with Santa: This is just 5 days away! SBS PTO hopes you will join us for pictures with Santa and a special visit from The Grinch.

Friday December 8th 5pm - 7pm in the parish hall

Children will be able to write a letter with a wish to bring to Santa when they have their picture taken. Also, they will make reindeer food for Rudolph and Grinch Soup to have on a cold winters night.

Giving Thursday: Thank you to everyone who donated to our Giving Tuesday drive this past week to kick off The Knights Fund. So far we have received donations in the amount of $7,995! Thank you!

Giving Tree: This week we also kick off our Giving Tree collection in support of St. Vincent de Paul. This year, they have asked us to contribute toiletries and small items to be bundled together to provide necessities for families. Examples might be shampoo, toothpaste, tooth brushes, combs and brushes. Donations will be collected up until Friday, December 15th. Students can bring items in and place them under our tree in the foyer, or being them to their classrooms. Thank you for your support.

Report Cards: A reminder that Report Cards for Term 1 will be emailed out on Tuesday for grades K - 8.

Parent Conferences: This coming Thursday and Friday will be parent conferences for students in grades K - 8. Please watch for an email with the link to sign-up for a a conference, which will be conducted via zoom.

It has been a joy to see your children, our students participate in the Let Grow Initiative. From Pre-K to eighth grade many students have taken the responsibility of making and packing their own lunches and packing their own backpacks. Our community loved seeing photos of the kiddos doing their chores. It is heartwarming to see the pride the children have, this is not something you can buy. Pride fosters self-esteem and self-esteem promotes success.

Our new challenge is for a student to do something kind for someone not in their immediate family. We brainstormed as a group during Tuesdays Together last week. The ideas the students came up with were, raking for an elderly person, taking in groceries for someone, baking a treat for a neighbor, making a card for someone and donating food to a food bank. These ideas are just suggestions, please discuss with your child what “kind” activity they would like to do. Being kind and doing things for others, not only benefits the recipient, it brings a genuine joy to the child.

December arrives with much excitement to perform! Students prepare for the concerts and learn how important it is to share the gift of song, dance, and instruments with each other and with an audience. The students in Mrs. Catalano’s music classes have certainly been preparing for the spirit of the Christmas season. The classes have been learning about being on stage, what it is like to be an audience, and singing holiday and winter themed songs. For example, in pre- kindergarten, students practiced singing and dancing on “stage” and performing Jingle bells for an audience. Students took turns taking on the role of performers and practicing audience behaviors.

The performing arts have so many benefits for children. The performing arts encourage children to explore their emotions and expand their imagination. Music, dance, and drama engage a child's brain, body and emotions in different ways to encourage their confidence and find joy in self-expression. Many studies have also concluded that children who participate in performing arts enjoy improved performance in their academic subjects. We look forward to seeing you at the Christmas concerts to enjoy some of our Christmas Spirit!

Our Christmas Concert will be Thursday, December 14th at Cardinal Spellman High School, 738 Court Street, Brockton.

Saint Bridget students and families will be allowed to enter the building at 6:30 pm. Parents should escort their child(ren) to their classroom teachers.

We asked that Parents and additional family members fill in the middle section of the auditorium first. Cardinal Spellman High School has installed a state-of-the-art sound system, so the angelic voices of our children should be heard anywhere in the auditorium.

The concert will begin at 7:00 pm. We ask our families to honor the times, as set-up work will have to be done prior to 6:30 pm.

The children should dress up for the concert. Students should not wear jeans or sneakers, and no Christmas hats.

We ask that no food be brought into the auditorium, as that is part of our agreement with the high school.

The bathrooms are located one floor below the auditorium.

Students should stay for the length of the show, as there is an entire school sing-along at the end of the concert.
