Message from Principal Wadkins
First, I would like to wish everyone a joyous winter break. As we enter this last week of school before break, our teachers and staff are working to keep our students engaged. We also know that this week can be tough for students as they face being away from their friends and the caring adults they work with at school every day. Multnomah Crisis Line - 503-988-4888 - is a resource that can be accessed anytime 24/7.
Our extracurricular activities continue to offer opportunities for students to connect. Our Winter sports are getting in full swing. This past weekend we hosted the first ever CHS girls basketball tournament and it was great to see our girls out on the court. The boys play their first home game Tuesday. Our wrestling team competed at home at the beginning of the month and will start the new year with the Don York tournament. The swim team has completed two meets this season with a record turn out of CHS swimmers.
Come join me at the choir winter concert this Wednesday. We will have a winter assembly this Thursday after the first period to celebrate our CHS Gives Back Campaign organized by our leadership class. There are still two days to contribute and all of the proceeds go to help families in our community. We are at over $7800 and have a goal of raising $10,000. PSAT Payments Due
Message to Parents of Students who took the PSAT in October

Message from the IB Office
Registration was a tremendous success with 389 students signed up to take over 1,080 individual subject exams this Spring! Thank you for confirming your students' exams despite the technological hiccups with our mail merge. Please watch for any follow-up emails regarding outstanding fees, or reach out to our new IB Admin Assistant Nick Muncie-Jarvis if you have any remaining questions: nmuncie-jarvis@pps.net. Remember that January 10th is the last day to drop an exam for a full refund, so check in with your students over Winter Break to ensure that they are still on track with their testing plans.
Speaking of Winter Break, a little word of advice for the IB Diploma candidates and all other students with hefty academic schedules out there: use your Winter Break as it was intended - to rest! January and February involve a lot of IAs, IOs, and uploading of all of the cumulative IB coursework you have been working on so diligently. So rest, enjoy time with family and friends, and recharge yourself for this next big push toward your academic goals in 2025. If you need to use some of the break to catch up or put a dent in your to-do list, please set limits. In order to give your best, you need to be at your best! Happy Holidays!

Class of 2027 Families
Dear Cleveland Community,
The Sophomore Class of 2027 needs your help! As we look ahead to an exciting future, one of the most anticipated events for any high schooler is the Senior Prom. These days Prom can cost upwards of $10,000 and we are already working hard to make this special night unforgettable, but we can't do it alone. We need your help! If you are able to make a donation, we would be so grateful. Your donation would help us secure a venue, DJ, refreshments, etc.
If you are willing and able to make a donation, please click the SchoolPay link below.
Thank you all for your generosity and support,
Sophomore Class Cabinet
CHS PTA's Winter Campaign
“The whole purpose of education is to turn mirrors into windows.” - Sydney J. Harris
The month of December is a time for celebration, reflection, and gratitude. It is also an opportunity to expand perspectives, drive change, and support our children’s education and view to the future.
We are kicking off our annual CHS PTA Warrior Campaign, we hope you will join us in giving generously. Your donations support academic excellence and career readiness at CHS.
Your donations are critical in allowing the CHS PTA to directly support our teachers and students with over $15,000 in grants each year. We provide funds for Student Clubs and Affinity Groups, new lab and technology equipment, critical tools, books, art supplies, musical instruments, lecture tables, basic classroom supplies, Weekend Warrior and campus improvement projects, and so much more.
CHS is #2 in teacher grant donations for PPS—let's get to #1 this year! You can donate by clicking here. (https://tinyurl.com/4ycknttu) Thank you for your generosity! Any amount helps! We appreciate your support and wish you a great month and end of year!
Best Wishes,
Your CHS PTA
