The Weekly Highlander
Volume #29
A Message from the Principal
Dear Highlander Families:
PTA is holding their monthly meeting next week on Tuesday at 1 pm in the library or on Zoom. There are lots of opportunities to connect and support our school so please join us. If your student plays volleyball, the boy's scrimmage will be on Tuesday, April 15, after school, and the girl's scrimmage will be on Thursday, April 17, after school. All scrimmages will be held at Hewes and will begin at 3:45 pm. The breakfast club will be meeting on Wednesday, April 16th at 8:15am in the MPR. The counselors will lead students through a mindfulness activity and there will be snacks. All students are welcome to attend.
As we continue gathering input for the 2025-26 Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP), we are asking for your support to complete the districtwide LCAP Survey. Here is the link to the original district message and survey: https://www.parentsquare.com/feeds/48129016. The survey will remain open through TODAY. Thank you for your support!
CAASPP Testing begins on Monday, April 28th, and concludes on Tuesday, May 6th. Students will be testing in their Core and Math classes and 8th graders will be testing in their science classes. Testing blocks will be the first few hours of each day and we will be unable to interrupt testing sessions to release students from school. A detailed schedule is linked in this newsletter; please limit absences and appointments during this time to minimize disruption to the school environment.
Please stay connected to Hewes by checking our website and following us on Instagram @heweshighlanders for the latest information and news.
