Cherishing Class Time
I want to take this opportunity to share a little information with you. We only get 36 hours per class per nine weeks with students. Clearly very little time! That is roughly 2% of of the student's time through the nine week period. We get 2% of their time to show a positive influence. We get 2% of their time to challenge them and watch them grow. We get 2% of their time to give them skills to conquer the challenges every day is going to throw at them!
We need to use this time wisely! We can waste precious time so quickly!!! Five minutes to get your class started??? Ten percent of your time gone or 3.75 hours! Done five minutes early every day too? Another 10% gone! How about a random bathroom/coffee break once per week that takes 10 minutes? Four percent more gone!
My point is this....time is precious! This is why you have heard me say use our time. Use our time productively and wisely. Teach/have learning activities bell to bell. Carefully plan transitions. Use different activities every 12-15 minutes to maintain high student engagement.
Energy Bus Rule #9 - Drive with Purpose
- Purpose is the ultimate fuel for our journey through life.
- By fueling up with purpose, you find the excitement in the mundane, the passion in the everyday, and the extraordinary in the ordinary.
- Need to communicate your vision and purpose to your passengers.
