Please ensure your child has a good night's sleep, a healthy breakfast, and arrives on time. 😊

Please be on the lookout for a letter from the school nurse with important end of the year information. These should be coming home on Tuesday, 5/28/24.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO PICK UP ANY MEDICATIONS BY 2 PM FRIDAY JUNE 14th (medications not picked up will be destroyed).

ALL CARE PLANS AND MEDICATION ORDER FORMS MUST BE UPDATED EVERY SCHOOL YEAR, this includes those going to middle/high school next year. (Diet orders are good until changed by your child’s doctor.)

If you would like these forms now, please email the school nurse we will send them home or email the forms to you. We will need to receive all completed forms BY the first day of school. If the forms are not completed and turned in by the first day of school in August, your child’s medical plan, special diet, medications, etc. may be delayed. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

We have lots of new Pirate wear available for you to purchase in the front office. Please come check them out the next time you are on campus.

Please ensure you arrive no earlier than 2:45pm in the school’s parking lot and no later than 3:40pm. As you know our parking lot is unique and the event we need to utilize that space during the day, it makes it challenging if cars are parked earlier 2:45pm. It is imperative you refrain from logging in to School Dismissal Manager prior to physically arriving in the school parking lot. The cut off time for car riders is 3:45pm. If you arrive after 3:45pm, you will be asked to park in one of the diagonal parking spaces and come in to get your child, as we have to clear the lot for our buses to enter. Thank you for your continued patience as we work to ensure our students are escorted off campus as safely and efficiently as possible.

Remember once a student reaches 10 unexcused absences, they are out of compliance with the NC Compulsory attendance law G.S. 115C-378 (ncleg.net). Per OCS policy ATTENDANCE (onslow.k12.nc.us) handwritten notes can be written to excuse the firs 10 absences of the year. Once your student has reached 10 absences School will require a doctor not to excuse any absence moving forward.

Please remember our OCS policy of not arriving on campus more than 30 minutes prior to dismissal. Cars should not be parking for car rider dismissal prior to 2:45pm. Recently we have had parents arriving earlier than this time. Also, please remember painted parking spaces are reserved for staff members. A valid photo ID is required to check out your child. There will be no student checkouts between 3:00-3:30pm. Thank you in advance for your assistance!

We have several upcoming grade level field trips. It is very important for you to adhere to set deadlines as we need to finalize numbers for our buses, cafeteria, and the field trip location.

All parents are encouraged to sign up for Parent Portal. You can monitor attendance within the Portal and you can see your child's grades, assignments & due dates for students in grades 3-5. She can look up your child's ID number when you email her the completed form and copy of your ID.

Due to our growth in student population, we are no longer able to provide a place in our cafeteria to accommodate lunch visitors. If you would like to join your child for lunch, we will have an outdoor eating area available in the courtyard. Please sign in at the office and we will get your child for you. You will need to be mindful of the weather when planning a lunch visit. :) Also, please keep in mind you are only allowed to eat with your child and if a grandparent or special guest is coming to eat with a student, we must have a note from the parent granting permission. This is to ensure student safety and confidentiality. Thanks for understanding!
