Tashua Family Weekly Update
Mrs. Neumeyer, Principal
May 9, 2025
Dear Tashua Families,
What an exciting week we have had at Tashua School! It was so nice to see many of you at the
Spectacular Spring Fair. A huge thank you goes out to the co-chairs, Silvana Bateni and
Carolina Rivera. In addition, thank you to our subcommittee members: Manuel Arias, Kevin Bateni, Daren Daneault, Ericka Garcia, Tatiana Guerra, Shannon Lynch, Elizabeth Madeo, Tiffany Starr-Brown and Olia Yelner for their hard work planning and organizing the event.
Thank you also to the Philbin Family and Colonial Gardens for their generous donation and support, as well as Benedicts, blue+berries and Madison Builders. I also want to thank all of you who made donations to support this event. We are truly fortunate to be a part of such a special, generous school community!
Tashua Time Capsule
To kick off the Spring Fair, Fathers’ Club President, Chris Solustri and I removed a 25-year-old time capsule buried in 2000. Attending the unveiling were former parents, students and staff members, including Mrs. Orazietti and Mrs. Smith who were teachers in 2000 and are still current Tashua teachers today! Also in attendance were Trumbull’s First Selectwoman, Vicki Tesoro and former Principal Jackie Norcel, who is now a current member of the Board of Education.
Unfortunately, the capsule was damaged by the elements but we were still able to recover items such as a staff photo, monthly newsletter, student signatures, event programs, a Tashua t-shirt, a stuffed tiger, Tashua pencils, newspapers and more. It was great to see how much things have changed and how much has stayed the same!
Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week
Monday kicked-off a "FABULOUS FIFTIES" Teacher Appreciation Week! Staff members were greeted with fun decorations and enjoyed a delicious breakfast, snacks, a dessert day, ice cream truck and more. On Monday, the Colony pizza truck served made-to-order pizzas and today staff were given gift bags showing how much they are appreciated.
A huge thank you goes out to Mrs. Caskin, Mrs. Ellezam, Mrs. Mooney, the entire Teacher Appreciation Committee, and to all of you who offered to volunteer or make contributions to make this a special week for our Tashua staff! We truly feel appreciated and WE appreciate you!
School Nurses Day
Mother's Day Plant Sale
Students were excited to pick out flowers, herbs, vegetables and hanging plants at the PTA's Mother's Day Plant Sale. A huge thank you to Mrs. Rende and her team of volunteers for chairing this fundraiser.
A Note from Mr. DeLuca
Field Day, Friday, May 23rd.
Teacher of the Year
Paraeducator of the Year
Ms. Allen has been a paraeducator at Tashua School for almost 4 years. Her kind and caring manner has helped her develop long-lasting, meaningful relationships with students and staff. Ms. Allen believes it is important to enjoy each student for who they are as we help them grow. "We are not only tasked with helping children become the best students they can, but also developing them as community members as they move beyond their time at Tashua." One of Ms. Allen's favorite part about her job is being at Tashua, "...I love the amazing staff I work with!"
A Reminder from the PTA: 123 Pronto Fundraiser TONIGHT
A Message from TPS Technology Department
We want to make you aware of a disturbing and dangerous trend circulating on social media platforms, particularly TikTok, that is encouraging students to damage school-issued Chromebooks by inserting foreign objects into charging ports or other components in an attempt to create sparks or even cause fires. Two CT districts have reported incidents in the last few weeks that resulted in significant damage to the Chromebook as well as devices actually catching on fire causing the fire alarms to trigger and the schools to be evacuated.
We ask that families take a moment to speak with your child(ren) about the seriousness of this behavior as well as the danger of participating in social media trends which can cause harm to themselves or others. In addition, intentional damage to school-issued devices is strictly prohibited under our school policy and will result in disciplinary consequences, which may include loss of technology privileges, restitution for damages, or further disciplinary action.
We want to emphasize that student safety is our highest priority, and we take any behavior that puts students or the school community at risk very seriously. We appreciate your support in reinforcing with your child the importance of making safe, respectful, and responsible choices.
Student Attendance
It is hard to believe we have less than 5 weeks of school before summer vacation. Please remember that any student who misses more than 10% of the school year, will be identified as "chronically absent" by the State Department of Education. Throughout the school year, we have provided communication to share any concerns of high absenteeism. Please make every effort to promote regular attendance for our final weeks of school. As a School of Distinction, we take great pride in our year to year reduction in chronic absenteeism. Let's continue to work together to support our students to help them to get the most out of each and every day!
Happy Mother's Day
Wishing all of our Tashua Tiger Moms a very Happy Mother's Day!
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns or good news to share by emailing me at NeumeyeJ@trumbullps.org or calling me at school 203-452-4433.
Kind regards,
Mrs. Neumeyer

A Note from the Art Room: Tie Dye T-Shirts
All year long Tashua students have done an amazing job showing their Tiger Traits and earning stripes for Thunder. We've now earned enough stripes that it's time for a school wide celebration!
For this celebration students will be decorating t-shirts for Field Day. We will be tie-dyeing the t-shirts with permanent markers. Tashua will provide the materials for decorating the t-shirt but we ask that your child provide the shirt. If you could please send in a plain white t-shirt with your child's name written on the inside of it by Friday, May 16th that would be greatly appreciated. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email me at athomas@trumbullps.org.
