CSD Monitoring for Potential Severe Weather
CSD continues to monitor the weather due to the potential of severe weather conditions next week. The safety of our staff and students is always our top priority. Staff and families should check email, the CSD website, and social media channels for updates.

Greetings WE Families,
Well, I was thinking that this week was a little less eventful than last week and then you throw in a water advisory. I hope you were able to capture some really great photo ops during the snow day. It was exciting that it actually was a snow day. Those do not happen too often here in Georgia. I hope you felt that our preparations and communication were clear and helpful. As you know, it is better to be overprepared and not need to utilize the additional remote learning plans than it is to be caught unprepared. I want to also thank you for returning the Chromebooks and power cords. Some of our littles were really weighted down with the devices in their backpacks. However, they handled it so well.
I hope you will join us next Thursday for the PTA Math Night. This family engagement night is sponsored by Mathnasium, a local educational support business right here in our community. There will be math games, prizes and pizza for the kiddos. Come and have some fun with us between 5:30 and 7:00 PM in the auditorium.

Standard Response Protocols Documents Available for Schools and Families
CSD has shared new Standard Response Protocols (SRP) posters and documents with schools to educate students, families and staff about best practices for responding to a crisis. Schools will display posters in highly visible areas, handouts will be sent home for families, and students will receive small reference cards to keep with them. English and Spanish versions are available for these documents.
What is SRP?
Developed in collaboration with law enforcement and the I Love U Guys Foundation, SRP is a set of terms and actions that students, CSD staff and first responders can incorporate into a school safety plan to train school communities to respond more effectively to emergencies.
SRP Terms and Actions:
Lockdown: Secures a room and keeps people quiet and in place
Evacuate: Moves people from one location to another
Shelter: States the hazard and safety strategy
Hold: Students stay in their classroom or area until the "All Clear" is announced
Secure: Students get inside and lock outside doors
Reminders
School Lunch Policy: Please be sure to maintain a positive lunch balance for your child. This will help us avoid any unexpected lunch changes for students. Check your Parent Portal frequently to make sure your child has adequate funds for the cafeteria. You may also find the Parent Portal app (for Apple or Android) to be more convenient.
