Students, educators, and parents have faced several difficulties as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Children who are already struggling with mental health issues have been particularly sensitive to the changes. At Peak Prep, we believe that no one should struggle alone. We understand how critical it is to recognize suicide warning signs to prevent, intervene, and offer post-care for students who have contemplated or attempted suicide.

  The Trans Lifeline is a trans-led organization that connects trans people to the community, support, and resources they need to survive and thrive. It provides crisis intervention hotlines, staffed by transgender individuals, for trans and questioning callers.

• A sense of hopelessness or no hope for the future.
• Isolation or feeling alone – “No one understands me”.
• Aggressiveness and irritability – “Leave me alone”.
• Possessing lethal means – e.g. medication, sharp objects, weapons.
• Negative view of self – “I am worthless”.
• Drastic changes in mood and behaviour.
• Frequently talking or writing about death – “If I died, would you miss me?”
• Self-harming behaviours like cutting.
• Engaging in 'risky' behaviours – “I’ll try anything, I’m not afraid to die".
• Making funeral arrangements.
• Giving things away like clothes or expensive gifts – “When I am gone, I want you to have this”.

• Making suicide threats – “Sometimes I feel like I just want to die”.

Relaxation exercises can help the mind and body relax during times of stress. If you're nervous, anxious, frustrated, angry, powerless, or anything else, talk to someone. Relaxing your mind and body can convey signals to your brain that you are OK, alleviating those unpleasant sensations. Furthermore, when you are relaxed or tranquil, you are more likely to respond to challenging events in a constructive manner.

We are thrilled with our team and the California state qualifications they hold. If you are curious or have questions regarding their qualifications you may request information regarding the professional qualifications of the student’s classroom teachers.

Each Friday, your Homeroom teacher will send the parent/guardian a Learning Log via Dochub. The learning log is a record that the parent/guardian will sign and initial certifying that the student listed above has "engaged in [required] educational activities" on each day that they have initialed.

Please take a minute to initial, sign, and finalized your student's learning log every Friday afternoon.
