What an incredible start to the dance season it has been! The first few weeks of classes have been filled with energy, excitement, and passion as we welcomed both new and returning dancers to the studio. Watching the enthusiasm in each class, from tiny toes twirling to advanced dancers mastering new techniques, has been truly inspiring. Our instructors are thrilled with the progress made in just a few short weeks, and we can't wait to see how everyone grows throughout the season. Here's to a fantastic year ahead filled with creativity, hard work, and plenty of fun!

We are still collecting clean, gently used coats for the winter season!! Your donations can make a real difference for those in need. Simply drop off your gently loved or new, clean coats and jackets at the studio—our donation bin is set up in the front lobby for your convenience. All sizes are greatly needed.

Thank you to everyone who donated to our Chesterfield Food Bank food drive. Our donation was taken last week and greatly appreciated!

We’re super excited to share our September 2024 GJDC Students of the Month! Our teachers and staff put their heads together and came up with a great group of kids who have shown great work ethic, great attendance and always on time and prepared, kindness to their peers, and who were polite and respectful to their teachers. A few may have stepped out of their box or did an act of kindness when no one was watching (but they were caught!)..... Hi friends! GJDC Boosters is SO excited to share our Fall fundraisers with you.

We will be hosting a Spirit Night at Chick Fil A Colonial Heights (in front of the CH Walmart) on Tuesday, October 22 from 5 to 8pm! Skip cooking dinner that night and come support the GJDC Company dancers! If you order online, the app will prompt you to support us and if you are ordering in the restaurant, just let them know you are ordering for our group.

With the temps getting cooler, it can only mean Fall is on its way! And that means it is the perfect time for Brunswick stew! Prepared by local stew-master, Bill Feasenmyer, you definitely don’t want to miss out on this deliciousness! Stew can be purchased for $10 a quart from a company member or place your order online from the link above.

It will be hot and ready for pick up the afternoon of Saturday, November 23rd at the Colonial Heights Optimist Club - 916 Meridian Ave, Colonial Heights, VA 23834.

Genia Johnson Dance Company's preschool program was uniquely designed by GJDC for our tiny dancers five and under, to establish a class with structured repetition, upbeat dance moves, and uplifting songs. Dancers use props to grow their imagination and work fine motor skills to prepare them for a foundation of early dance fundamentals. Our engaging, yet technique driven, program is uniquely designed by GJDC exclusively for our tiny dancers!

Our preschool program has grown so much in the past few years! We are constantly thinking of ways to better our program for your little ones so that they get the most out of their dance education while still having loads of fun in a welcoming, inclusive, positive environment! We have many options for your little ones so that you can find the best fit for them within your family's busy schedule.

*The studio will be OPEN for all other holidays/special days and events on regular or school calendars during this time in 2024/25 unless otherwise noted above.

*In the event of inclement weather, GJDC follows Colonial Heights City AND Chesterfield County school closings. We will post on all of our social media (Facebook & Instagram) and send out a studio email by 11am of our status. We will also update on NBC12 online, Channel 8 and CBS6 when available. HOWEVER, in certain cases of one closing and not the other, we will best address the current situation and make a decision which best suits the safety of all involved.

*If schools cancel after school activities due to inclement weather and GJDC is already open, we may choose to remain open or close at an earlier time depending on the current situation. Parents must use their best judgement if classes continue and you need to venture out, depending on your location.

*Makeup classes are not available in the event of missed classes due to inclement weather.
