Astro October 2024 Update
Dream big. Reach for the stars. Together we achieve success!
Principal's Message
Dear Families,
We have some exciting events this month. On October 3rd, it's picture day. Information about how to order school pictures came home with the students. On Friday, we have our Day of Outdoor Learning. The weather forecast looks favorable so it should be a great day of learning in the fresh air. Our 6th graders are going to Outdoor School for more outdoor learning, October 7-10th.
We have our Astro Launch Night on October 17th. It will be from 5:00 to 6:30 pm. Pizza will be served in the cafeteria from 5:00 to 5:30 pm. The classroom doors will open at 5:30 pm for you to visit the rooms. There is lots to see and learn in the classrooms and an art project for you to do with your students.
On October 18th it's our Laps for Ladd, jog-a-thon fundraiser. More information will be coming home soon about this annual event.
In partnership,
Jennifer Robbins

Dismissal
Our parking lot is a busy place, especially at dismissal time. Please make sure to use extreme caution so that everyone stays safe. Please use the picture below to understand how the parking lot flow works. It's important that if you are driving up to drop off or pick up that you remain in your vehicle. For dismissal time, please do not arrive prior to 1:50 pm (1:20 on Wednesday). If your student needs more help and time getting into the car, please park and pick your student from the walk-up area by the gym. If you are parking to pick up your student, you need to pick them up from the walk-up area by the gym. Do not wait for them in our front parking lot. Thank you!
Vaccine Clinic Event
The Century High School Based Health Clinic is having a vaccine event. rom 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, September 30. All school-required vaccines will be available. Appointments are strongly encouraged by calling 503-597-4580. See attached flyer
Birthday Treats
We kindly request that parents do not send treats or snacks to school for birthday celebrations. This promotes inclusivity, healthier choices, and focused learning. Some students have dietary restrictions or allergies that prevent them from enjoying certain treats. By not having treats, we can ensure that valuable class time is not disrupted and that our students can fully engage in their lessons.
