As we start the last quarter of the year, it is hard to believe how fast it has gone by. This quarter we will be looking at how cells differentiate into tissue, organs, and body systems. Please remember that students may retake or redo any assignment in science class for a better grade. This, however, has to be done within two weeks of the assignment grade being posted. This is so that students fill in learning holes sooner rather than later. Our learning builds, and we want to make sure students are solid in the foundations as we move along to build ideas and concepts.

We had an amazing trip tp Florida over spring break. We explored ecology, biology, aerospace, and many other topics...all while having a blast! Hands on learning at it's best!

Last week, when we arrived back to school, it was time to chose where we will go spring break of 2025. The choices were the Florida Keys or Costa Rica. After watching a video of each trip, the kids voted and Costa Rica it is!

Our classroom planner is located in our google classroom. This is students on stop shop for everything that is happening om science class. New slides are posted weekly with learning intentions and success criteria for the week (the science standards we are covering), bell questions, class activities, and vocabulary. If students are absent, they can check the student planner to see what they missed.

All of our assignments and information for the class will be posted in our Goggle Classroom. If your students is absent, everything they will need to catch up can be found there. Each assignment that has a paper needed for the assignment will have a PDF attached so that students can print a copy from home.

I will be taking students on an action packed trip to Florida over Spring Break. It's not too late to sign up! Please contact me if you are interested in sending your student.

Students developed and presented google slide presentation on the 5 kingdoms of living organisms. They did am amazing job working with others and learning to produce a project as a team. Students also did great on learning to present publicly. For many students, this was the first time they had presented in front of a group. I am super proud of their steeping out of their comfort zone to grow and learn!

To help our brains connect ideas, we have been working on "doodle notes" and "talking to the text". Doodle notes are drawings and diagram that help organize concepts. Talkin to the text involves making notations as we read that help us to understand the main ideas and vocabulary that we are reading. Both strategies can help immensely with comprehending nonfiction reading, which can be difficult for both kids and adults!

As part of our study on food chains and food webs, students worked with partners to dissect and owl pellet to discover what their owl had eaten.

Each student will need to have a signed Lab Safety Agreement on file in order to participate in labs. As a life science class, many of our labs will be dissections. Our first dissection will be owl pellets.
